Alto Cafe is located at the most easily accessible place in the world! The building is bright and welcoming, and the people there are very friendly and helpful. One of the best places to get some home style cooking in Ruidoso, great staff that always takes proper care of your table . Try the biscuits and gravy and stop by alto lake afterwards for a nice walk, it’s only a minute away !! All dishes were delicious and made for a delightful dining experience. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was inviting. Overall, a fantastic spot for lunch!

We were happily surprised by this charming little restaurant! As soon as we entered, we were greeted, quickly seated, and served right away. We started our first morning in Ruidoso with coffee and breakfast, and everything exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend the Breakfast Burrito topped with green chili sauce, and the Huevos Rancheros was also fantastic! The atmosphere had a cozy diner feel, which we absolutely loved!

This restaurant is quite popular, so be prepared for a wait to be seated and possibly also for your food. However, the wait is definitely worth it! Although the menu board may indicate that many items are sold out, you'll still find something delicious to enjoy. I've been craving fried catfish for months, and finding good catfish in the desert can be challenging. The steakhouse in my town, Las Cruces, offers just a small 8-ounce filet for around $16. Here, I was able to get a generous plate of catfish, served exactly as it should be, for about $12. What a treat! This is as good a local mom-and-pop restaurant as you'll find anywhere.
