Bonzai Japanese Steak Sushi

We opted for the hibachi grill, and the food was absolutely fantastic! Our chef was incredibly entertaining. Although we're not local, we would definitely return if we visit the area again.

I ordered the sushi bento box meal, and it was amazing! Inside was also very clean and well decorated in the restaurant, and the night was all topped off by amazing service, always positive and attentive.

Staff is super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and priced fairly. I made a reservation and even though they weren't super busy they had my table all ready and set up already. Restaurant was clean and well taken care of.

Stopped in while visiting town it was delicious! Dumpling soup and soft shell crabs were very tasty. I wish they had a happy hour special for the sushi which I didn't see on the menu. Specialty rolls were a little on the pricey side but good. Would recommend the bonzai roll.

We go to a Teppanyaki grill near our home a lot. This place does suffice for that type of experience. The restaurant is warm and inviting. However, they don't have the traditional white sauce that everyone wants on their rice at other locations. Their ginger sauce was excellent! No free shrimp appetizer like most other places. Our cook was not the liveliest of the bunch. Others were there to perform. This poor guy was just going through the motions. Overall, we had a good experience. The food was cooked well. I was back in Kerrville for an appointment and decided to try this restaurant for lunch, which is conveniently located near Peterson. The interior is nice, featuring a sushi bar that adds to the atmosphere. I definitely plan to come back for a hibachi grilled dinner. The service was excellent, and our food arrived at just the right time. We started with pan-fried dumplings, which were delicious. My wife ordered a combo lunch that began with dumpling soup. We also had two sushi rolls, along with a sizable shrimp and vegetable tempura that we ended up taking some of home. Overall, it's a fantastic place. I didn't drink this time, but the drink menu looks promising!

The second diner had to wait over 20 minutes after the first diner was served for their sushi bento box, which is completely unacceptable. It's not right to serve a meal cold, and it's certainly not acceptable to have two diners receive their entrees more than five minutes apart! As for the second diner's sushi bento box, it had its ups and downs. The fried California roll had the same issue as the first. The seaweed salad was very bland, but the squid salad was well-seasoned and tender, which was a plus. However, there were no sauces provided for the sushi, sashimi, or nigiri. I was in the mood for sushi and since relocating from San Antonio, I wasn't sure what I was in store for. They place has a clean look, I was seated quickly, and the wait staff was friendly. While I didn't partake, I did notice they had a full bar. The restaurant has an upscale feel to it, without making you feel like you were under dressed in a T-shirt and shorts. They had fry aged steaks, a hibachi grill, and a large alcohol selection. I ordered Gyoza and two roles.
