"We love to drive over the hill to see what’s new in Chama. We had heard correctly that the Boxcar Cafe was under new ownership. We walked in to find the place bustling with lunch goers. The service was quick and friendly. A lot of the staff appeared quite young but they were on their toes, courteous and friendly. I ordered a build your own burger with green chile, mushroom aioli and provolone. You get to pick the patty size and the buns were great. I enjoyed thoroughly but regretted my no fries decision when I saw a plate of them go past. They looked delicious also. My husband chose the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green chile gravy. It was good too and the gravy was rich but not too spicy. Claudia the hostess was attentive and busy helping people get the most out of their lunch. Enjoyed it very much."

Stopped in Chama on way to Denver. Super friendly staff and tasty food-burger was great, my husband had fish and chips, which were really good. Would definitely do again!

Generous portions and reasonable prices are just the start. The food was delicious and my picky eater kids loved the breakfast burrito and Nutella pancakes. Overall the best food in the area

my man ordered the breakfast burrito and asked if they could mix all flesh. he said it was the best he ever had. it was a big part and had other customers in awe at the portion size. we highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful breakfast experience.
