"Being Italian ourselves we lowered our expectations for Italian in Texas as it is not the typical steak or Tex Mex specialties Texas is famous for. We should have lowered them even more. Walked into a full restaurant which is normally a good sign but not until we were there a while did I notice only one table had food. It’s seat yourself so we picked a booth. The waiter who was very pleasant came and asked if we wanted drinks and suggested an appetizer of mozzarella sticks. He also promised fresh bread. He returned with our drinks and the apology that they had no mozzarella sticks left. We waited easily 30+ minutes for our food and got it before a few other tables who were there before us and they started complaining. The owner came over and said she was sorry but there were a lot of people there. They walked out. Waiter came by and said bread coming soon. My chicken parm was decent size and breaded well but the sauce had to be from a jar. Bland tasting too. Wife’s spaghetti and meatballs were good portion but meatballs had no sauce on them and tasted like premade frozen. We finished our meal and still no bread. Waiter said sorry lots of people are waiting. Agreed but we won’t be one of them so we left. As we walked out a pizza that a table that was seated before us finally came out to them. If this is the #1 restaurant in town I weep for the people of Pecos."

"Our first Texan BBQ and it absolutely did not disappoint! 3 people shared a 2 meat platter and a large side of coleslaw. Fatty brisket was awesome and the pulled pork incredibly tender. I liked the table BBQ sauce too. I will say the brisket could have had a teensy more flavor but that's where the nice BBQ sauce came in. We got to order from one of the pitmasters herself, Veronica, and she made sure we were taken care of the whole time. We had a lovely conversation with her and even though we stayed eating well past closing, they gifted us free dessert!! Really touching hospitality and I can only hope to get the chance to pass through Pecos again to visit!"

"I lived in pecos back in the early 1980s, and dairy mart was great at that time. our family moved back to florida in 1984 and I was not back to pecos until 2021 when I came back to California after moving my daughter there. it had changed a lot, but I was surprised to find that dairy mart was still there and had not changed from what I remember. I told my other daughter who had rode with me to California, all about how my parents would bring us to dairy mart for ice or hamburger. at that time pecos had no almost food restaurants except 2 dairy queens. we stopped and ordered a few burgers, and they are still great! I plan another stop in pecos on my next trip through the opposite and also plan another visit in dairy mart!"

"Then a young woman came over to see what was happening, but she also just walked off without helping. I insisted that she get the manager, and she complied. The manager came to the register, refunded me the difference I was overcharged, and handed me the money in silence. I had to ask her for a moment to talk before she would stop walking away. I will give her credit for actually listening and offering an apology. However, this incident wasn’t just about the $1.50 overcharge; it was about the last several times I’ve encountered problems at this DQ location. I’ve finally decided to stop going to this restaurant for good, and I won’t be returning again."
