"I'm really only giving Fountainhead three stars due to a decent experience downstairs. Upstairs probably deserves a one or two star rating. We came to Fountainhead on a whim as it was on of the first nice days in a while. We were quoted a 1 hour wait for the rooftop, which was expected, given the fact that it was dinner time and a beautiful night. We decided to get an appetizer and a drink downstairs during the wait. We were seated at the bar and both bartenders were fantastic! They were attentive to our needs and were friendly. We went with the cheese curds, which was probably the best thing I ate that night. Lucky for us, the one hour wait ended up being more like 35 minutes. This is where the night took a turn for the worse. The other reviews were spot on that the service on the rooftop was HORRIBLE. Literally some of the worst I have seen. It took almost 20 min to order and get our first drink (I ordered a vodka/soda and my husband a beer). The waitress didn't even take our food order after she dropped our drinks off. Another 20 minutes later, we managed to place our order. I got the fried chicken and my husband ordered the shrimp roll. The food took another 30 or 40 minutes before we finally received it. You could tell it was ready a while before it was dropped at the table because it was already cold when we got it. The chicken was average at best and the Mac and cheese was flavorless. It took us another 30 minutes to flag our waitress for a second drink and our check. She eventually dropped both off but then never came by to cash us out. I think after 20 minutes of waiting, we finally gave up and walked to the bar to pay our tab. She did finally stop by to ask us how we were doing, but never once apologized for the wait. If we come back here, I really hope it's not the same experience."

A great place for whiskey, beer, and (as I've just learned) BRUNCH! Very chill, no wait, extraordinary chicken and waffles, very good coffee. Beautiful food all around.

Solid neighborhood place. Great rooftop patio (smaller menu up there I believe but solid items burger was super tasty and fresh). And a beer list that goes on for days including some local guys on draft which I love to see. Good service too.

Club member will be my next goal for this place. I had a great time there. Not just a so much whiskey that I can learn but food was a culinary delight, in taste and presentation!!!! I love meats and cheese board. Mussels roasted garlic with white wine also top of the line. Service was warm and welcome too.

The meat pie and chips were delicious, and the cocktails were also enjoyable. This upscale British pub is one of the best in the city when it comes to food. The closest comparison in quality would be Owen and Engine, known for their excellent fish and chips. The rooftop area is very pleasant, and they offer a nice selection of drinks. Voir le carte

The rooftop at this restaurant is absolutely incredible! We visited for the first time since moving here about a month ago, and even during the pandemic, they had the rooftop set up beautifully, with well-spaced seating, a mobile menu, and fantastic service. Based on our experience, we will definitely be back, not just because we live only 2 minutes away.

We visited this restaurant for a casual dinner and found the atmosphere to be cozy and relaxed. I ordered a delicious Cobb salad while my husband opted for the wings. Our server was friendly and gave us great attention. Our only issue was that the iced tea had a strange taste, but we understand that this is primarily a bar and not known for its tea selection.

I had a few dates here before I met my wife and continued to enjoy it with her. This place has always been one of my favorite spots in the city, so I was truly heartbroken to learn that it had closed down. I even moved closer to it, being one of those homebuyers during the COVID surge, but unfortunately, the establishment didn't make it through the pandemic. I do appreciate their little market, but it just doesn't have the same charm as the actual gastropub did. If there’s any chance of a comeback, I hope the owners will reconsider. Voir le carte

I'm really sad to hear that Fountainhead is closing. I've been a regular for six years now, and when I found out they would be shutting down in mid-November, I quickly made a reservation for their rooftop. As always, I was not disappointed. I decided to indulge in some ten-year-old Whistle Pig whisky—why not, right? The cheeseburger was cooked to perfection, just the way I like it, medium. I loved that they served the cheese sauce in a little creamer pourer; it allowed me to be precise with how much I used, making every bite just right. The mussels had a nice kick to them, which was a pleasant surprise since my friend who joined me doesn't like spicy food. This meant I could really dig into...

The cocktail kit was quite impressive. I believe it was priced at $50 and included a 750mL bottle of Buffalo Trace's FH barrel pick, vermouth, angostura bitters, and a serving of fresh cherries. For that price, it felt reasonable, though I wish they had included a jar of cherries instead of just one serving so that I could make more Manhattans. As for the burger, it came loaded with toppings and was slightly above average. The cheese was flavorful but a bit too overwhelming, while the bun was soft and greasy. Unfortunately, the burger patty was the biggest letdown; it lacked flavor and was quite dry. I understand that this was carryout, so I expect it to be better when enjoyed at the restau...

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
