Generations Brewing Company

The setup is really impressive. I love the indoor and outdoor seating options, and the large doors create a fantastic atmosphere. The real highlight, though, is the beer. The bartender and wait staff come in as a close second!

Really cool brewery in Pretzel town. Good selection of Ale, Porters and Stouts. Something not on the menu but it is freshly prepared is their pretzel which is available in two sizes. Sit outside to play live size chess or bag toss

What a fantastic venue! We went there for a graduation party, and the bartender was kind enough to let my husband taste some beers before making his choice. They have bags and checkers set up outside for games, along with tables and chairs for seating. We had an absolute blast! Voir le carte

The outdoor area is fantastic, but that’s about where the positives end. The atmosphere is really nice, and the ambiance is pleasant, but I wasn't impressed with the beer selection. The amber ale was decent, but nothing else stood out. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it didn't hit the mark for me!

This is a fantastic little place in Freeport for craft beer enthusiasts. The atmosphere is beautiful, the beer is excellent, and the staff are very friendly— I was greeted with a warm hello when I arrived. I tried the No Promises beer, and it was fantastic and easy to enjoy. They also have live music on Mondays, which is a great touch. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a beer!

The beer selection here is impressive. I tried the red, which is on par with some of the best I've ever had, while my wife enjoyed the lager, which was also quite good. Our adventurous friends opted for a pineapple jalapeño beer, and I had a sip— it was all pineapple at first, followed by a nice kick of heat. A few weeks ago, while traveling from Chicago to Iowa to visit family, I stopped at this brewery in Freeport just before closing time. Steven, the head brewer, graciously allowed me in before the last call. I really enjoyed the “No Promises” ale. Nicole and the rest of the staff were also warm and welcoming. The brewery has a laid-back atmosphere, a friendly vibe, and excellent beer. I'm excited to visit again when I'm in the area. Thank you!

I finally had the chance to visit Generations since I'm working just 10 minutes away in Pecatonica. I brought a growler to fill, and the bartender was fantastic, allowing me to sample a few beers to help me choose. It was a tough decision with so many delicious options available. I ended up getting a six-pack of No Promises, which has an incredibly smooth flavor, but my favorite for the growler was the POG Pils—an exceptionally flavorful fruit pilsner. The brewery itself is really nice, and I'm glad my job will last all summer because I’ll definitely be back for more refills.

I've waited years to write a review of Generations. First of all, their beer is fantastic! However, there seems to be an issue with consistency in the way it’s distributed. I’ve bought numerous six-packs from different stores throughout Northern Illinois, and there seems to be something off with the beer almost every time. I say "almost" because their seasonal beers do not have this problem, and I’m a big fan of those! Unfortunately, the regular brews just don't maintain a consistent quality. Fortunately, I live close enough to get it fresh from the source, but after today, I won't be buying it from anywhere else again.
