"I really enjoyed this restaurant; it has a great atmosphere and a diverse menu. I decided to try the captain's platter, not realizing how huge it would be. It was enormous! My main issue, however, was that I would prefer some items to be non-fried. After a while, everything started to taste quite similar. The entire platter was fried, and I had envisioned boiled or grilled shrimp, as well as steamed or grilled oysters, which I think would have been a better option. The platter was priced at $34.99, and with the tip, I ended up spending around $45."

"The service at this restaurant is extremely slow. We waited for an hour to receive slightly warm, not hot, food that wasn't fresh. It was not worth the wait and I will not be returning. There were many people waiting by the door and I wanted to express that it was not worth waiting for. The wait staff tried their best and kept my coffee topped up, but it seems like the issue lies with the kitchen. They need a good manager, as well as hiring signs and higher standards. Additionally, the ketchup bottle at our table was empty. In terms of kid-friendliness, there were a lot of people with children in high chairs."

"It starts with the smiles from the staff and from there...breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's the kinda place where people discuss, gossip, or just have a simple breakfast. It's as American as any small-town, USA. Breakfast is sized as the cooks, in the back, work to make sure the hundreds of orders of eggs are cooked to order. Breakfast for dinner? Burger for breakfast? It's here. From Nicole, Laura, Danielle, et al...each waitress works very hard. If you happen to stop in and you get great service then good tips go a long way for the hard work. I haven't seen a meal I didn't enjoy there."

"Food is reasonably fresh but bland and mediocre. You can do worse but La Taqueria Mexicana on Pine St has MUCH better food for comparable prices. The real problem is that the management at El Flamingo is slimy and dishonest. When we placed a takeout order by phone, they took advantage of the fact that we were ordering from an old menu to deliberately misunderstand the order we were trying to place in order to charge us significantly more money for less food. Then when I tried to sort out the misunderstanding as I was picking up the order, they refused to fix it, argued with me rudely, and pretended to be bad at English in order to stonewall me. We won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend that anyone eat there. But if you decide to do so, be very careful, pay attention to exactly what they are ticketing you for, and make sure to have them confirm each item and the price they are charging you. Otherwise you run the risk of being stolen from through deliberate overcharging. This is not the first time we have dealt with questionable and shady behavior from the management here, either. This incident is just the most egregious and blatant, and the final straw for us."
