"Food is excellent! salmon and vegetables perfectly cooked, exquisite soft crunch to the tempura. And service was wonderful as was the ambiance. I was prepared to write an excellent review here and elsewhere on facebook, singing their praises, to further boost their business. I would have given even 6 stars if not for the experience I had at the end of the meal when I paid. I was charged extra for a green tea and was not advised that beverage was not included with the all you can eat price when I ordered it. Had I known I would have used my own tea that I carry with me. Not only that, the waitress and cashier proceeded to argue with me when I brought the charge to their attention and then began to converse in their native language in front of me. I asked them to speak English in front of me. It is terribly rude to change to another language in front of others when the other person does not speak that language, particularly when that other person is your customer!! I was friendly and gracious but despite that got a cold shoulder from the man at the counter after thanking him and paying my bill. Honestly the event cast a dark shadow over what was otherwise a delightful experience. And I probably won't be back."

I highly recommend it, although parking can be a challenge due to it being busy. Overall, a great place for a delicious dinner.

My daughter and I enjoyed a lovely meal at Izumi featuring one of my all-time favorite waiters ... Checking, friendly and very helpful. I loved the chicken teriyaki, which was nearly-in-your-mouth delicious. She had the all-, you-can-eat special and was in heaven. Her favorite part was the octopus salad, but she also loves the steak teriyaki, sushi and more. We will be back. My daughter says I have to try the steak teriyaki. Service: Dine in

This was my first experience trying Hibachi and I found everything we ordered to be overly salty. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but personally, we didn't enjoy the food. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery. The only things that were good were the shrimp and veggies. We also got miso soup with the meal, but it was not up to standard. Everything looked good, but I wished it tasted better too. The service and ambiance were good, though.

"While in Fargo Moorhead for Rare Beer Picnic, I made sure to get out of bed to join other craft beer nerds for the release of Double Barrel Aged King Size and Double Barrel Aged Midnight Spider at Junkyard Brewing. Rather than getting the bottles and running back to the hotel, I chose to sit and enjoy myself with a few half pours of their amazing beers in addition to chomping down a bigger plate of popcorn that I probably needed. Double Barrel Aged King Size: A Peanut Stout aged in two consecutive sets of freshly dumped Willet bourbon barrels, and then transferred to a new set of freshly dumped Willet bourbon barrels. Through the double barrel aging I get a lot of barrel character including licorice, oak, and bitter chocolate that plays well with the roasted nut flavors that are strong in the non barrel aged version. King Size is my favorite PB Stout, and this brought out a TON of complex flavors not in the OG. Double Barrel Aged Midnight Spider: An Imperial Stout double barrel aged in the same manner as DBA King Size. The base stout was brewed with roasted barley and conditioned on cocoa nibs, black walnuts, and marshmallow. The base beer is tasty in its own right, but the aging brings out the Rocky Road Ice Cream feel even more with some maple, oak, and vanilla flavors accentuated. Mild bitterness shown more think dark bakers chocolate and roasted nut. Wicked Awesome Slurry: An Imperial Double IPA hopped with Eureka and El Dorado. High haze, fluffy body mouthfeel from Wheat additions, and high tropical juice and bitterness. The name doesn't lie this is some wicked awesome slurry of dankness and citrus. ____________________"

Mezzaluna

Mezzaluna

"Though I am not a foodie by any means, I have been all over the world and have had the privilege and luxury of eating at a Michelin Starred restaurant more then once. With that being said I believe the chef and his team here at Mezzaluna have in my humble opinion food comparable with that level of cuisine which is a rare thing to find in this country indeed, never mind downtown Fargo. If you’re looking for fine dining and the elevated experience that comes with it there really is no other restaurant here that is comparable. The head chef’s talent lies in his precise mixture of both classic and new age fair that borrows from staples collected from every corner of America’s varied regional cuisines. The flavors themselves are so delicately influenced by French cooking that even my untrained palette can appreciate them without getting lost. As can often be the case with some of the more recent convoluted flavor profiles awash in today’s fine dining establishments. Showing that simplicity and fresh ingredient’s can still elevate your dishes beyond just what is expected of the run in the mill almost token “fine dining” establishments you find in almost every town across the country or even in the bastions of semi-guided or starred restaurants that have all but excused themselves from cooking altogether. The chefs at Mezzaluna manage to achieve this without turning bacon into foam and service into an almost Cirque Du Soleil esq. flaming truffle aioli extravaganza that in the end exists merely to cover up the flaws of modern innovation for innovations sake cooking. Where sterile bags have replaced the range and nearly everything has been converted to some kind of ill begotten fondant. Their ability to bring together competing textures (shrimp and grits anyone) and an almost playful recognition of the average Americans more basic pallet to the small additions of international savory classics united under an alternative but not over reaching style gives the menu some of its biggest stand outs. In particular the grilled Chicken skewers with a molasses bourbon glaze served with jalapeño cornbread stands equally reminiscent of the barbecue stalwarts of both Bangkok and Houston from which it takes inspiration, and the Japanese wagyu presented in a traditional Denver zabuton cut with pommes fondant ringed in an understated black garlic purée that is somehow the boldest stand out in a dish packed with rustic flavor were my personal favorites on the new menu. There are even some dishes that are an experience unto themselves. The beef Rigotoncini, paired with a simple stout red wine based balsamic sauce and tossed with melted Asiago cheese in particular left not only a completely clean plate but a feeling of true wholesomeness in it experience. It goes without saying that an establishment of this type strives for perfection in everything it does and without each piece working together the machine would break down. From the wait staff who have every item and potential pairing from the menu memorized, to bartenders who remember your preferred libation from your first visit months prior, or the attentive restaurant managers who keep it all running, the front of the house at Mez is no exception. Translating the same level of precision the Chef has brought to his food to the guests experience. Giving this restaurant not just the ingredients needed to make an establishment of a certain guides calibre but also those rarest of spices searched for everywhere by the wealthy and working class alike in Singaporean street food back alleys to uptown manhattan 500 dollar a plate eateries. That which in my opinion is worth much more than some stuffy French travel books “praises”. Two words brought together into a setting and feeling that in any arena you could spend your life searching for and it would not be wasted… Comfort and Soul. I don’t usually write reviews but people who dedicate so much of their lives and time to give strangers something more meaningful then just a plate of food should be recognized and Mezzaluna does just that."
