"Best dinner of the year! AND we eat out every night, so saying this was the best dinner this year... that's saying something. Came here last night for a date night. We have been a few times previously. My wife wanted the surf and turf for two. So, that's what we ordered. At $60 it seemed like a bargain. It featured ribeye steak, crab cake, cauliflower, green beans, rainbow carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. It was served with sides of remoulade, bearnaise and demiglaze. First off nothing was pedestrian about this plate of food. I have no idea what kind of green beans they were. They were long, flat and wide. Kind of like a Lima beans in its shell, but tender and sweet. There was cauliflower that had bright white tops but green stems. Never seen that before. Carrots were rainbow colors. The steak was seasoned perfectly, maybe had even been brined. Tender to the point I didn't need a knife. The star of the show was the demiglaze. Literally the best I have ever had. So good that I asked the chef if he made it himself. I was disappointed to find out the answer was yes. I was hoping it was something that I could procure from some specialty shop. But no. Only a chef with extreme pride in the craft would go to all the effort to make a demiglaze like that. That same pride echoed throughout the plate. The mashed potatoes as included. Not too rich or fat laddened, yet full of flavor and a perfect accompaniment to the veggies and the steak. We ended up having an apple crisp for dessert. It came straight from the oven with a big scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. It gilded the lily. Everything was amazing. And, I got a small amount of demiglaze to go. In the end, I found the specialty shop I was looking for. ?"

"Came down to Del Mar to celebrate a friends 50th birthday and after the party we were staying at the hotel next-door and decided out of convenience that we would go to this restaurant. When I told my friend who is a local in the area she said oh they don 't have very good food. I just shrugged my shoulders and thought well I 'm gonna try it anyway. I should 've listened to her. Just because it has an ocean view doesn 't mean it 's gonna be good. The food was mediocre at best and we 've eaten at some very glamorous locations and restaurants around the world. First off the salmon was pretty basic I could have ordered that dish anywhere (or made a better version at home and paid less money) and my husband 's chicken well he was not impressed, and my friends Seabass she felt was average. Most of the dishes came out mediocre warm and bland with no flavor not hot like they should 've been. Our server was lovely, but a bit over enthusiastic about the food considering its mediocre status, but it 's nice to have positive people in this world. Let 's put it this way. Next time we go to Red Tractons and spend our money. Sadly, we won 't be going back."

"The ordering process is done downstairs at the register, breakfast menu to the right! The staff was very helpful with this, as I was intent on running upstairs immediately. Best French toast I think I've ever had. The combo was ok. Eggs were good and fluffy. But 100% try those Frenchies. Atmosphere was legit. Went for the view and was impressed. There's the ocean! Coffee was good too. They have a coffee bar and they give you a mug. Good stuff. Will be back!"

"Cuisine exceptionnelle dans un environnement authentique et non exigeant. Notre serveuse était très attentionnée et serviable, ce qui a ajouté à la grande expérience. Pour les amateurs de pain, il y a 3 pains différents, tous fabriqués ici et tous merveilleux. Je m'arrête en sortant de la ville pour ramasser du pain et le ramener chez mes amis. Ma salade était fabuleuse et les pâtes au poulet à la vodka (une spécialité) étaient parfaitement cuites avec une merveilleuse sauce. Les spéciaux changent avec les saisons. Les desserts y sont tous préparés et tout le monde avait l'air super. Nous partageons la glace le dimanche avec des guimauves caramélisées maison et de la ganache au chocolat. C'était merveilleux. Vous pouvez le partager avec 4 personnes car il est très grand. Nous y retournerons certainement dîner à notre retour à Mayo and Golf."

"Happy Hour has 1/2 price wine bottles and $4 off some food. The coconut shrimp and truffle fries were great! The mixed salad was pretty good (but kind of expensive for the size and being just lettuce, tomatoes and gorgonzola . It wasn't clear, but thesliders come with just two and salad, but they were good. The fish tacos looked great, so need to try those next time. It gotpretty busy just after Happy Hour with folks stalking us for our table (and actually asking to put their stuff on our extrachair! !"
