"This was a fun find for us. Saw some photos, decided to try it out, and it was a huge success for us. We'll be back sometime. I've never had a jianbing like this before, so it was new and exciting. We parked at the top of the parking structure. If you turn too early like us (or too late, depending on which direction you are coming from), the parking garage is only the bottom level. You'll have to exit the garage and keep driving down the road. Less that a block later is another entrance which leads you to the top of the garage. The building is set up with stores that look like office rooms. Theres a few places open here, but it's not a very busy area. Some rooms haven't been rented out yet. The store was tiny with no place to sit, so we ate in the car. We got a fried chicken jianbing. It was HUGE. You could probably share with someone else and be satisfied. We watched them make it in front of us. There were these huge strips of some kind of crunchy snack rolled up inside that made the jianbing. Loved the crisp. Kinda tasted like the wonton skin crackers they serve at some Chinese take out restaurants with the sweet sauce. The jian bing was delicious, a great texture, and had a lot of things sin it. They packed it for us in a to go bag with a little cute pack of gloves to go too. We also tried the Zhua Bing. They showed us that this used a different type of wrap. It was more like a smaller green onion pancake as a wrap. It was much smaller. My husband ordered this with a hot dog and pork floss. Let's just say he ate the whole thing after I took a bite. ha. He liked it, but I'm not a huge of fan of hot dogs in my chinese food. I'd stick to the Jian Bings here size-wise. The best bang for your buck. We'll be back. And plan to bring some friends back to visit on our next food crawl. Thank you Monkey King Jianbing!"

Seriously delicious and fresh! My favorite jianbing in Chinatown ? They also have cute little Shouzhuabing and egg waffles if you just want a snack!

This is a crispy little heaven!! Service was fast, food was fresh, a little bit saucy, a little bit pricey, but well worth the trip if you want a big fulfilling breakfast!

I had never tried jianbing before, but Monkey King truly exceeded my expectations! I ordered the fried chicken jianbing, and the chicken was incredibly well-seasoned. The textures within the jianbing complemented each other perfectly, making it very flavorful. On the other hand, I also tried the egg waffle, and I found it to be quite disappointing. It was limp and tasted more like pancake batter rather than the signature Hong Kong egg waffle flavor. Overall, I would recommend skipping the egg waffle and definitely trying the jianbing! This place was a pretty awesome find. Not the easiest to spot, but it sits on the 2nd floor of a fairly new plaza. This place reminds me of the good ole night markets in Taiwan, as they make the crispy, flaky Jianbing (kinda like a crispy scallion pancake for those unfamiliar) right in front of you and customized with things like meat floss/pork sung, sausage, shrimp, egg. These things are HUGE btw and can be split with another friend if you just want to try it. Although it's a bit further out from Chinatown and would require a dedicated drive to get it, I would definitely go again.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I visited this restaurant, which I discovered through YouTube videos. It's not too difficult to find; just head to the second floor. The service was good, but the real highlight was the jianbing. It's crispy, sweet, and has a nice tang to it. I would describe it as a type of Chinese breakfast treat (though I'm open to corrections on that!). I tried the original jianbing as well as one with ham. The original felt like it was missing something, but I think the addition of the sauce really enhanced it. If you're looking for a light breakfast option in a pleasant setting, I highly recommend this place.

This hidden gem is a small business located in a quaint shopping center on the outskirts of town, but it quickly became one of my favorites in Chinatown! It reminds me of the jianbing I had in China, and we savored every bite. We tried both the original flavor jianbing and the fried chicken jianbing. The original was incredibly crispy and delicious! I particularly loved the variety of sauces that accompanied it; it made for the perfect breakfast. It was satisfying without being too large, providing a lovely start to the day. The chicken jianbing was essentially the original with some fried chicken added, but it had such a unique taste that paired wonderfully with all the sauces. While that o... Voir le carte

Reminiscent of Chinese street food and definitely worth trying! Monkey King is a tiny unit on the second story of its building, which makes it hard to find and even harder to eat at (it has, quite literally, one folding table in the back that will seat max three people), so your best bet is to plan on doing takeout. They provide disposable gloves with every jianbang order, which is the definition of innovation that excites if I've ever seen it. We got the original jianbang and the fried chicken and cheese shou zhua bing. Jianbing is a egg crepe that tends to be on the crunchy, savory, salty side, depending on what fillings you choose, while shou zhua bing is a thinner version of a scallion p...

My partner, my parents and I came here to check out their jianbings (egg based pancakes) a Beijing style street food. All of us have never had it before, and we're curious to see what it's about since the new Chinese eateries that's been opening up in America is typically Northern Chinese style cuisine. What we're used to seeing in America for the longest time is Southern Chinese style cuisine. We're also here to celebrate my partner's birthday. I ordered their spicy chicken steak jianbing and a meat floss egg waffle, my partner did their spicy fried shrimp jianbing and a cranberry egg waffle, my dad did their pork sausage and a chicken steak jianbing, and my mom did their crab meat with ham...

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
