The establishment is advertised as a restaurant, but it actually functions more as a noisy sports bar. The food was decent, but the service was lacking. A table of rowdy sports fans and blaring TV made for a disappointing beginning to the evening.

The wait for food was ridiculously long even with a reservation! We ordered our food at 12pm and didn't start eating until 1:15pm. We weren't even comped a meal, just told we can text the event coordinator our food requests before coming and they'll start preparing it then. What a waste.

We made reservations, but when we arrived the person assisting us seemed confused and didn't seem to know about our reservations. We had trouble understanding him. A friend and I took our 5- and 6-year old sons to dinner here in the early evening prior to a kid-friendly show at the Paramount. The servers were so kind and patient with our kiddos, and the food was yummy and arrived quickly! I love the decor and ambience at Spice Monkey, and want to go back for adult beverages sometime soon. Great little downtown spot!

I had a good time, but I had reserved a table for 5 on a Saturday night at 6 pm. When I arrived, we had to sit at the high tables near the bar because they were setting up for a comedy show and couldn't seat us upstairs. We thought about going to a different restaurant where we could get a regular table, but ultimately chose to stay. I believe it would be helpful to mention when making a reservation that on some nights only bar seating is available. I will remember this for next time if I decide to dine here again.

I am sorry to say we are not happy with spice monkey. I had a confirmed reservation for 8 people friday, dec 7. The restaurant did not receive our reservation from open table and therefore there was no room for my party. They did try to put us upstairs with 3 tiny tables right next to a jazz trio. It was an uncomfortable situation and we decided to leave the restaurant and eat else where. I was very disappointed and two of our party left for home. The restaurant staff did provide us with a complimentary drink while we waited. Unfortunately, It didn't help matters much. Open table completely dropped the ball.
