Fun dim sum concept. Good flavors, but a few dishes had too much going on. Staff was very friendly and had good customer service.

Plates were extremely small and stingy, prices were very high. Unknown service fee charged on the bill that wasn’t disclosed beforehand. Food overall was tasty but NOT at that price point. State bird tasted dry and like any homemade fried chicken.

Great food and fun vibe. I made reservations when reservations first opened and got seated all the way in the back at the waiter station and upon asking for a better table was put in front of the bathroom. The less desirable tables should be given to those later comers to the reservation list or standby customers. Ask for a better table when you reserve. Voir le carte

Hands down an all-time favorite restaurant of our family’s! Their signature dish—the namesake—melts in your mouth…who knew quail could experience such an epic transformation?! While the menu changes with the seasons and what’s best suited for the dishes to come alive, we have relished every last morsel from SBP. Worth mentioning is their team’s attention to detail from the paintings, to the menu design to the plating to the exceptional service. Last night’s meal was no exception and our daughter, a traditionally particular eater, had a number of “firsts” in devouring the wagu toast, lamb dumplings and the quail. In this alone, the evening was a success!

The food was first rate all but one of the dim sum style offered dishes (we did not order off the menu but tried most of the dishes brought around) was amazingly good. The service was good and attentive for what the place is which is unique. Gourmet foodie level food but not really fine dining or luxury experience. The prices reflect that and the result was we felt we got excellent value. Just 3 gripes about the place too noisy, tables too close together (combination of which meant it was hard to have a private conversation), and the food all came too fast dishes served too close together. We left well fed, but we were done in only about an hour and a quarter felt rushed.

It’s hard to imagine that this place is related to The Progress, or that anyone would voluntarily go to State Bird over the progress when they’re right next door. 1/ The service is quite poor. The host stand was unmanned for a good 5 minutes on arrival. The wait staff comes infrequently (we were at the table, eating for 30 minutes before our drinks came). The dim sum style servers are extremely curt and uninterested. Probably one of the worst price:performance service experiences I’ve had in a long time. 2/ The food is good but not great.
