WE have eaten at Tarheel for over 25 years and the food is GREAT!!!! Just wish we lived closer to visit more.

Their trout dinner on Friday evenings is consistently excellent, accompanied by coleslaw, fried okra, and sweet tea.

I ALWAYS WANTED TO STOP IN AND TRY THERE BAR-B-QUE BUT NEVER GOT THE CHANCE TO. MY WIFE GOT A COUPON AND BROUGHT SOME HOME..IT WAS VERY GOOD AND THERE COLESLAW IS ALSO GOOD. IT IS EXPENSIVE BUT IT IS VERY GOOD. Voir le carte

I took my nephew there in the fall of 2010, we each ordered the BBQ sandwich, chips and a drink. When I got my BBQ there was very little BBQ on the huge bun and it was not quality BBQ by any means !! It was almost like moist sawdust, we were not happy and won't eat there again.

This place has the best BBQ around! I used to eat here frequently in the 70s (we called it Gramps) when I worked as a forester for Union Camp. I've returned several times since, and it’s still fantastic. I would visit more often, but I live in South America, and the drive is a bit long.

On our way back to Delaware from Cofield, NC, we stopped to try their sandwiches, and all I can say is...DELICIOUS!!!! My husband ordered the sandwich with slaw and absolutely loved it. I only wish we lived closer; we'd definitely be visiting more than once a month. I can't wait for our next trip! Voir le carte

This restaurant offers a poor representation of North Carolina BBQ, so I would recommend not wasting your time or money here. The side dishes were also disappointing. The only decent item was the chili cheese fries, but that's about it. I can't understand how they managed to receive a 4-star rating; it seems like their staff or friends might be writing the reviews.

I have visited this restaurant for years. Though because of medical problems, it's been three or four years since my last visit. Over a period of some thirty years, I purchased all my pork bar-b-que and pork sausage from this facility. Quality of food and service have been outstanding. I hope to resume my periodic visits soon. If ricky and paige hedgepeth still own and operate the business, then you can find some of the best meat products anywhere.

Went to the Tarheel for a birthday party. I am local and had always wanted to stop, never had. Was anticipating good food and event. Ordered the barbecue and was served as were many others. Picked up the sauce bottle(clear plastic bottle with the tip cut off a little shorter than when bought new, like a refillable ketschup or mustard bottle), looked at what I thought was pepper floating on the top of the oil and vinegar, shook it on my barbecue. I was talking to the person next to me and they said what 's that? . I looked at my plate and the pepper in the sauce was actually flies that had crawled in the tip of the bottle and succumbed to the vinegar or the fact they could not get back out. I... Voir le carte
