"We arrived for our reservation 15 mins early. The hostess said to us your table is not ready yet. We stood by the entry for several minutes(no place to sit and wait, or even stand, you 're kinda in the way), we then told the hostess we are headed to the bar...a good hostess would have suggested grab a drink at the bar and we 'll come and seat you. At our table our server seemed genuinely uninterested. She seemed to want to rush us, but we controlled the pace. Their French Onion soup is very good, highly recommend. Skip the sashimi. I had to ask our server any specials of course there were 2 specials...so we ended up ordering the burger, and a salad. Be careful not to mention split plait they will charge $7.50 split plate fee. (Just get an extra plate). The burger was good, but with added toppings like an egg, avocado and mushrooms, brought the price to $39. The Winery House Salad was good. Recommended. Their wine menu is respectable, recommend the Daou Cab $18/glass. Their desert menu included a cobbler, so this time of year sounded good. Well it was anything but a cobbler. More like granola and fruit, with ice cream. Overall, if you are in the area and shopping g at the Westfield Mall, I would recommend dining here."

My friend and I ordered a almond milk and oat milk latte. Very tasty and good quality coffee! They also offer complimentary sparkling water on tap!

Food and service was good (but not amazing). Best dish we had was the brussel sprouts' side. Although the lobster tail I ordered was also pretty tasty. Only issue I had was I made a reservation, but initially was seated outside on a cool night. Had to then wait a few minutes to get a table inside.

The staff at the restaurant was friendly but not very attentive. The food was mediocre and overpriced. I considered trying a different appetizer, but no one came to check on us for a long time, so I missed the opportunity. The highlight of our meal was the cocktail I had. Overall, my husband and I were not impressed and would not return to this establishment. Voir le carte

My wife, son, and I had a wonderful experience at The Winery. The outdoor seating area had plenty of heaters to keep us comfortable on the chilly evening. The staff made sure that my young son received his food promptly, and he thoroughly enjoyed the pasta. The meals and wine that my wife and I ordered were exceptional. We will definitely return to The Winery during our next visit to San Diego.

Had a good experience here. Waiter was very friendly. Food was very good but a bit small in portion size. Only issue was that the process for the hostess asking patrons to wait at the front desk area doesn't work for their space. There is ZERO room for this. My wife and I were constantly having to move around for other guests or, worse yet, food bussers carrying plates of food, coming through the area.

We are regular customers at this restaurant, but Sunday was disappointing. The kitchen seemed to be having an off day, even though it wasn't very busy. Our guest with Celiac disease ordered a frittata without potatoes, but it was served with them anyway, with the waiter claiming the kitchen had forgotten. The spare rib hash was also disappointing, with very little meat and what was there was dry. We are concerned that the quality may be declining at this establishment. Voir le carte

We go every year before Christmas with family . Usually they are packed. They were busy but a lot of tables available for the time we were there. We waited over 30 mins just to get some one to ask us if we want drinks. There were a lot of servers and staff. And again busy but a lot of empty tables to not where everyone was rushing around. Asked for bread that took quite some time to get. My in laws go there quite regularly and were surprised by the wait of everything. It was 3 hours by the time this was over. Food was terrific. Just kinda stunned by the lack of service.

best comments first. Our server, Rosa was fantastic! During the evening the Manager, Jessi, introduced herself and was simply amazing in assisting us with our less than wonderful dishes that we had ordered. Jessi should be complimented by this restaurant's ownership and promoted! The wine was wonderful which Jessi provide excellent guidance on. The restaurant is lovely. Unfortunately our food was not great. The filet was well done instead of medium rare and the rack of lamb was so tough, it was inedible. Perhaps the fact that it was Christmas Eve caused the kitchen to be overly busy, but it was disappointing to say the least. It is unlikely we will return.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
