"Placed a carry out order from Dirt Burger that included 2 hamburgers for non vegan eaters. We ordered the Original Dirt Burger, the Chicago Burger and the Austin BBQ. All 3 burgers were great and very tasty! The burgers held together very well. We also ordered an order of the Dirt Balls and the Sweet Potato Dirt Balls along with an order of the Chili Cheese Fries. The Dirt Balls filled our car with a delightful smell and were very good. The Sweet Potato Dirt Balls were good but to be candid, there wasn't much difference in taste between them . The Chili Cheese Fries were huge and were delicious! My daughter thought that they were the best item that we received! Lots of chili, fries were crisp and there were jalapenos on top to make it nice and spicy. Overall, were very good and will definitely make it back here again on the next trip to Des Moines!"

"I've been to Baratta's before. But, today was something a little different. I had a client in from Omaha. I wanted her to experience some local dining with some old school charm. The setting was very nice. One of the owners (Joe) met us at the door and sat us right away at our table. The waitress was around to get our drink order very quickly and happily covered the specialties when I asked. The special of the day was a cheese ravioli in a lemon sauce. This sounded new and interesting to me so that's what I ordered. The atmosphere was great. We were able to discuss a few work items and then moved on to other conversation. There were 4 of us total. Before long our lunch had arrived. Not only was it very visually appealing but I'm being honest in saying that I don't believe I've every had a better pasta dish in my 50 years on the planet. I've had other favorites at Baratta's in the past but have never heard of or tried this dish before. I've got a new favorite and I would recommend anything on the menu but if you see a cheese ravioli in lemon sauce you must try it. Overall, the food was outstanding, the service was excellent, the price was very affordable and we were able to dine at our own pace. With such a short drive from downtown Des Moines it will be a business lunch staple from here on out."

"The server was fantastic and she did a great job making us comfortable and attending to us. The ambiance is great and very clean. As far as food goes, it was a little disappointing, decent, but not plate-lick worthy for the price. Guess you arepaying for the ambiance, not the food because I have had better Italian food at a dive bar. Read some of the reviews about burntpita bread and it was the same that came with our cheese dip. While the cheese dip was great tasting there was a bitter taste,it was the same for the Chicken And Prosciutto that I ordered. Took me a while to figure out Store-bought minced garlic. Onesuggestion to the chef would be to use Fresh Garlic/Garlic powder or if you have to use minced garlic, maybe cook it a littlelonger to mitigate the bitter taste. The chicken was FANTASTIC, juicy, and crispy. But overall the pasta dish was justwatered-down Alfredo sauce. I bet it will taste good as leftover after the sauce has thickened overnight in the fridge. Fordessert, we got crème brûlée. As you see in the picture, the sugar was over-caramelized- it should have cracked with the backof the spoon however, it only folded. The burnt sugar made it very bitter and had to scoop off the top layer to enjoy thecustard inside. It was a complimentary anniversary dessert but would have been nice if they treated it as though we paid forit. We will try again another time hopefully we can raise the star points since everyone else seemed to enjoy this place butme. Good luck and apologize for the thorough yet bitter review."

"Nous avons apprécié le guacamole et la salsa. Le guacamole moyen et c'était assez épicé. Chaque personne a commandé un type différent d'enchiladas et de tacos, puis nous avons échangé pour que tout le monde puisse en essayer plusieurs sortes. Nous avons été séparés rapidement, ce qui serait bien pour les personnes qui ont un engagement en soirée. Notre seul reproche, c'est que c'était vite bruyant, ce qui rendait difficile de s'entendre à notre table."

"When visiting Des Moines, this by far was arguably the best restaurant we ate at! I would highly recommend! Service was good and the food was great! Good flavor and portions. We ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, one normal and one with “light” (less) cheese. I think the one with light cheese was a much better choice. Especially if you’re not a huge connoisseur of cheese. We also ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup and the Jalapeño Chicken sandwich. All of it was extremely flavorful and well prepared. The Malo Fries were good as well! Cost is slightly on the higher side for a lunch meal. But definitely worth a try!"
