"The girl behind the counter was either unsure about the price or realized how crazy she sounded when she told me the vanilla old fashioned donut was, in her words, $4.99, I think? Seems like even she couldn 't quite believe the prices herself. Nothing old fashioned about the prices here. Other options out there for $2 or less that aren 't half as bad. To charge $4.99 and get away with it, you need more than the excellent ambiance. More seating would be nice to get the full Maybe-I-didn 't-pay-too-much experience. At least give me a fancy napkin or container for the $4.99 donut so I can almost feel good about myself. I 'm sticking with Bob 's on Baker for any fancy options. More than twice the quality for less than half the price. And for a regular donut priced less than regular, Safeway has nothing-to-be-excited-about donuts for $0.66 each if you buy 3."

"I’m not sure how they source their fish and produce, but it seems so healthy. I love this spot! Every time I’ve ordered food here I’m so impressed with the flavors and textures!!!!!! Their miso soup is the BEST, the avocado roll is exceptional and the salmon always tastes so fresh and not too fishy. Their salads are Green and the prices are very fair!!. The only thing I wish is that they could switch to paper or other non-plastic containers: I love this place."

"Went to celebrate a friend's birthday tonight. Walked in and got seated immediately as there was plenty room, it was very nice and the booths were high. Unfortunately I didn't bring enough cash with me to order Naan but I got a Caesar salad without chicken, my son got Mac cheese. I would've liked to order Indian food given the location, but short on funds so that's on me. The prices were decent for the area and my friend ordered Butter chicken and an extra side of rice as well as a Mango Lassi. Really my only complaint is that all of the food took forever to come out. I got a Caesar but it took so long to get it, my son got Mac cheese and my friend had nearly finished his whole meal before the Mac cheese arrived at the table. I DO appreciate that they kept us in the loop for it being delayed, but man it took a while. All of the employees were very nice and refilled our waters regularly. Also I think on the website the Caesar is listed as vegetarian bur Caesar by definition is not vegetarian as the dressing has anchovies in it."

"I 've been eating at Casa Orinda for more than 40 years. My favorite, Veal Vincente, has been downgraded in taste and presentation. It used to be layered with thick slices of eggplant, round slices of veal, and bearnaise sauce. Today the eggplant is thin and not fresh maybe purchased frozen. Instead of bearnaise, it has a brown sauce with bearnaise dribbled over the top. Bearnaise also appears to be purchased flavor has been downgraded. It used to be a fabulous dish. Now, not so much. Yet the price has been increased to almost unreasonable. I still love the bread. While a plate of lettuce (maybe some carrots strips) is just $10, their salad dressings are good. Service is always good. A little shocked to pay over $60 for the prime rib special. Yes, it was massive, but the server should have mentioned the price and size."

"Beware: The menu prices do NOT reflect what you’re actually charged. Every item costs more. In addition, with the kid’s meal, you’re supposed to get your choice of main dish and side, so I ordered my child a kid’s burrito and fries. Well, I got charged separately for a side of fries—which was $5.45, nearly as much as the kid’s meal alone—and the woman who took my order automatically gave me beans and rice as the side…which makes no sense since the kid’s burrito already has those ingredients in it. When I looked over my receipt, I inquired about the overcharges, and she said that the prices have changed in the computer but that the menu hasn’t been updated yet. I wouldn’t have a problem with the prices if they were the ones listed, but charging more than your customer expects is just bad business. Such a disappointing experience. The food is okay but not worth going back for."
