"As a hospitality and restaurant service professional with over 15 years of experience, I have never felt inclined to leave a review until today. Being a big fan of Glizzy's, I eagerly celebrated National Hot Dog Day at Jim's, my favorite Glizzy/hot dog spot since I was 10 years old. Now, at 42, I can confidently say that Jim's has always served the best hot dogs. However, today's visit left me deeply disappointed, not because of the food, which was as delicious as ever, but due to the customer service experience. I understand that inflation has driven up food prices, and I'm willing to pay more for a good meal. But being charged $14.32 for a hot dog, tater tots, and a large drink seemed quite expensive given the portion sizes, which have remained the same. After enjoying my first two hot dogs, I returned to order two more. The person who took my initial order was clearly a trainee, and I don't hold her accountable for the experience, as she was visibly new and still learning. However, the person who took my second order seemed very impatient and asked if I wanted a beef hot dog or a regular hot dog. I responded that I didn't know, whatever I ordered the first time. She replied that she didn't know what I had the first time, even though she was the trainer training the trainee during my initial order less than 10 minutes earlier.Later, I went back to the counter to get a refill on my beverage and noticed they were using two-liter soda bottles to pour drinks. There was no sign indicating that the fountain drink machine was out of order. In my experience, soda from a two-liter bottle tends to go flat quickly. Had I known this beforehand, I might have chosen a different beverage.Overall, while the food remains as good as I remember, the customer service left much to be desired. It's important to note that the person taking my second order had no way of knowing if this was my first time at the establishment or if I was a regular customer. The way you treat every customer, regardless of whether it's their first or hundredth visit, should be consistent. This consistency is what encourages customers to return.I understand that inflation impacts food prices, which is beyond a business's control, but excellent customer service is something that can and should be maintained, especially when prices rise. This feedback is not sent with anger or resentment but out of a desire to see improvements. Jim's holds a special place in my heart, and I hope it continues to be a cherished spot for many years to come. Nostalgia is crucial for customers, and maintaining a high level of service is key to preserving that."
