"1. **Slow Service**: The restaurant is clearly understaffed, with no dedicated bartender. Our server had to handle both drink orders and typical serving duties, which slowed everything down. During our visit, there were only two servers and one busboy working. They desperately need to hire more staff, especially for busy Friday and Saturday nights! It seems they are placing more emphasis on takeout orders, which the servers also have to manage. This approach is not working well.
2. **High Prices**: Mexican food shouldn’t be this expensive when it comes to ingredient costs. For instance, a basic house salad without any protein costs $12, and it was just a handful of greens with a few tomatoes and onions. A $15 serving of their house-made guacamole was bland and lacked seasoning. The same goes for the side of black beans. The burrito looked appealing but was mostly filled with black beans and rice, containing just two shrimp, priced at $19 without any sides. Most of the dishes, aside from their homemade salsa served with chips, were quite bland. We were even charged for sour cream and red salsa, which tasted more like plain tomato sauce. Since when is Mexican food served without salsa and sour cream? For two people, one of whom didn’t order an entrée, and sharing just one drink, the total bill came to $77! This was definitely not worth it, and we won’t return unless they improve.
3. **Cleanliness**: On a positive note, the entire restaurant was spotless, and I’ll give them credit for that. After the shock of the bill, which totaled $86 after adding a tip, there were a couple of positive points that led me to rate them two stars instead of one. Our server genuinely tried his best to be attentive and accommodating. He was well-trained and friendly, and I felt sorry for him and his co-worker during such a hectic service time.
The second positive is their homemade chips. Initially, I thought they looked like they needed salt, but as we began to eat them, we discovered they had a coarse salt that stuck well to each chip, making them quite tasty. However, we still had to pay separately for them, which was an additional $5.
It’s a shame that this restaurant, which used to be a fantastic place with excellent food and service, has turned into a shadow of its former self. Parking remains a challenge since it’s located in a residential area, but we were fortunate to find a spot next to the building. Overall, it is what it is."
