This applies to everything: if you ask for more salsa, you might finish your first serving before they think to bring you another, even if you ask before you start. I’ve been to countless places where small requests are prioritized, but at Ixtapa, you’ll find yourself waiting indefinitely for everything.
The staff seems to delay serving the check and often take far too long just to acknowledge your presence. Once, I waited 20 minutes just for a server to notice me, and then it took even longer to receive my bill. It's baffling how clumsy the service is, especially considering the restaurant wasn't busy. The staff appears more interested in chatting among themselves than in attending to customers, creating an atmosphere that feels both complacent and careless.
On the positive side, the food is exceptional—it’s fresh, not greasy, and surpasses many other Mexican restaurants I’ve tried. However, the appalling service overshadows the quality of the food. You can even see patrons loitering at the entrance because the staff is too distracted to welcome them. Had I not been warned about the service, I would have left feeling even more frustrated.
I entered with low expectations and left feeling like I’d experienced the worst restaurant team of my life. I didn’t even witness waitstaff washing their hands after handling food before serving us again. The lack of attention to hygiene and detail is shocking, making this a place I would only visit once—and never return to. While the food is delicious, don’t expect competent service here; it’s clear the staff is more focused on trivial matters rather than providing a good dining experience. One napkin isn’t enough, the salsa portions are too small (they should offer two sizes), and even on quiet days, I’d dread the thought of visiting if the place were busier.
