"The ambiance, decor, and tableware (teapots/cups) were charming and pleasant at this restaurant, and we were thankful to secure a last-minute reservation. All staff members were accommodating and attentive. However, the tea steeped for an unknown duration, resulting in a lack of flavor from not being brewed with boiling water, as black tea requires. The green and herbal teas were delicious, but seemed out of place alongside the traditional cream tea components of jam, lemon curd, and clotted cream. The portion of butter provided was minimal and barely enough for the two sweet scones we received. At $18 per person, this cost should not include rationed cream. If importing is costly, consider local sourcing. It's a simple fix. As this version of America's oldest tearoom is newly opened, some adjustments may still be needed. I hope to return in the future to find a better balance of tea options (plain and fruit-only for cream tea, please) that match the quality of the setting."
