"I absolutely love this place! It offers authentic Japanese cuisine. I've tried the tempura combination, chicken curry, teriyaki bento box, and most recently, the tonkatsu ramen, and everything has been delicious! My friend ordered the spicy tuna roll, and she found it to be spicier than she expected, but she still managed to eat almost all of it because it was so tasty. Just a heads-up for those who are sensitive to spice! We dined in the back room for the first time, which was very spacious. It felt especially authentic with a couple of guests speaking Japanese nearby. Our tempura combination included shrimp, sweet potato, zucchini, broccoli, and green bell pepper. Everything was wonderful!"

I absolutely love this place, especially their ramen. I used to prefer pho, but then I discovered Akebono, and it completely changed my mind. The food is simply delicious! The sushi is fantastic as well—you won't be disappointed, I promise!

Husband ordered curry over rice. Thought he ordered prepandemic and liked it, not this time. Last time, ate with friend, price shot up for ramen. Was good. This time, less ingredients, still tasty. Overall. Not a place to frequent again for awhile.

This restaurant offers one of the most diverse Japanese menus in all of Sacramento! The sushi is decent for the price, and the beef teriyaki dinners are also quite good. I've been a fan of Akebono for years. The food is consistently excellent, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed and casual. Whether it's the sashimi, sushi, katayaki soba, tan tan men, stamina ramen, challenge ramen, kimchi ramen, nabayaki udon, or teriyaki, everything is delicious! The takeout is also well-packaged and holds up beautifully at home.

I went here on weekend lunch and it’s so packed. I had donkotsu ramen and my husband had sashimi combo. Although it’s weekend, they have lunch menu. Ramen was so flavorful. I like their cha sue in the ramen. Usually cha sue has it’s certain meat smell but they don’t have! I like this donkotsu the best in Sacramento. Sashimi is also fresh and good. Casual atmosphere and family friendly.
