"The ideal restaurant. A place to feel comfortable eating outstanding food and drink. Great well informed service, relaxed atmosphere. The food lives up to the hype and the prices are sensible. Serendipity brought my wife and me to A H. We went to the Fogg Museum in the afternoon and then wandered Harvard Square thinking about dinner. I joked that we should check out A H, even though I had no idea where it was. I looked up and there it was across the street from us clearly a sign from the culinary gods. We decided to see if we could spontaneously grab a drink and an appetizer at the bar. We walked in and immediately found seats at the bar with no reservations (a little bit after 5PM. A couple of hours later we stumbled out of there happily fed by the raw pumpkin salad, the secret secret burger, pork belly parpadelle and some exquisite drinks. What really made it special was the bartender who in a very relaxed and informed way answered my wife's barrage of question about every dish and drink. Oh and we struck up a conversation with our neighbor at the bar who was drinking alone, waiting for his two girlfriends. It turns out he worked at the restaurant in the past and now works as a beer and cheese expert at a local store nearby. He is the one who informed us of the secret secret burger. All in all a great culinary experience."

the food was interesting and came hot, but no server ware for interchangeable plates - art of rough noise level was loud, service was friendly, but mostly absent, large parties took up most restaurant, blocked our table, prices were high for what was eating and very small portions

alden and harlow is a great eating experience. High-end creative eating is offered as community dishes (but not small teller! as group or 2 to enjoy. it's funny and not stuffy. the service is excellent. highly recommended! it is not calm, so they expect an energetic environment. try new things! So glad we made a reso last night! Service felt rushed, but everyone for the most part was pleasant. Broccoli dish was divine interesting sweet dip. Brussel Sprouts were nice and crispy. Had a great oil that was perfect for dipping the butter focasia in. Onion dip w/ chips was the biggest surprise. Bluefin felt luxurious. Orange panna cotta was a nice simple dessert. Probably could've done w/o the apple dessert.

It was an amazing experience to taste some delicious food from Chef Scelfo. We started with Patata Bravas (the aioli was savory), grilled focaccia bread (must try, the smokey butter makes it unique), burrata was creamy and perfectly paired with the corn bread. Then we tried the carrot bolognese which had delicious flavors and the secret burger (with the fried cheese) gave a very unique taste. We finished off with the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream (ice cream was the best, perfectly sweet and creamy, probably one of the best vanilla ice cream I must have had). Definitely recommend to adding this restaurant to your bucket list. Alden and Harlow thank you so much for hosting us tonight! C...

"I had been looking forward to dining at Tallula for awhile. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype and at the end, was priced like a Michelin starred experience without the menu or experience of one. Food: I came with a friend and we both got the tasting menu with the bread basket to start. The bread and butter was actually excellent and the best part of the meal. The opening appetizer was raw scallops, and that was actually quite nice, as it had a floral and peppery taste to it. The 2nd course was fois gras with (more) bread. Perhaps this is where I wish we didn?t start with the bread basket, as the bread with the foie gras seemed like cheap white toast in comparison. The foie gras itself, I felt was ruined. Perhaps I am a purist, but whatever gelatin and berry mix they made with the foie gras taste overly acidic and fruity and took away from the rich, earthy, buttery ness that one would expect. Next up was the pasta I had squid ink cavatelli and my friend had the lobster pasta. Both portions were laughably small and the lobster dish was bland; overall nothing special and we both felt we would get a much better dish at any other restaurant. The protein was a short rib, which was too salty, and again, felt like it lacked novelty. Finally was desert, which again was very bread forward with 2 dense brownies for each serving again, nothing novel, and we could barely swallow it after what felt like such a bready meal as is. Service was okay, I believe our server could tell that we didn?t like the food (we didn?t finish most dishes) and ended up avoiding us in favor of other tables, and it was quite clear we weren?t getting serviced as kindly as other patrons. It also didn?t help they put us at a table right by the door that was constantly open/closing on a 20 degree evening. After a 4 course tasting menu, 1 drink, tax/tip, the meal ended up being $132 just for myself. It was a bit upsetting because I have had truly exquisite Michelin experiences at that price point. Overall, glad I experienced it, but likely will not be returning or recommending."

"No soup/sandwich shop compares in terms of price per quality, portion size, and different options in the area. I only started ordering from here about 2 weeks ago and I’ve now had 7 different kinds of soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches after the first order I started ordering two soups and a sandwich aka a soup to save for later because they’re just that good, every one of them. Price is so very reasonable and depending on which combo you get you can make out with a full sized sandwich and large sized homemade soup for $14.While it’s hard to recommend one thing over another in this circumstance since it’s all been great in their own ways, the Chicken Chowder is something I plan on getting a quart of next time it’s available. The Chicken Barley and Chicken Lemon Rice are ones I plan on getting quarts of in the future as well, and that’s not to discount the Chicken Noodle, Beef and Veg Noodle Stew, French Onion, and the current seasonal Chilled Gazpacha (which I probably wouldn’t have even tried it wasn’t from these guys . It’s all top quality. The Chicken Tarragon sandwich is my favorite in terms of sandwiches although it can’t combo with a soup as of now (please let us! . The best cheap soup combo sandwich is a tossup between the Cilantro Tuna and Ciabatta Sandwich, which are both incredible in their own ways. The only few drawbacks to this place are they don’t have every soup they make every day, are only open until 4PM, and aren’t open on the weekends. That said it’s worth it to plan accordingly for this. I never review anything but this place is worth it it’s the best if you’re a soup and sandwich person like I am."
