Food was delicious…..service not that great. Probably due to being short handed since it was Christmas Day.

this place is a jewel! always eat good if not great. their fish and seafood dishes are always inspired. I love the Greek salate.

The experience was ruined because the service was extremely slow and inattentive. I was sat 45 mins after my reservation and it took almost 2 hrs to get my food.

The food is reliably very well prepared and the menu offers a large selection that worked for everyone. Service is friendly, attentive, but beautiful low-key One of the few restaurants nearby, this is not cacophonous!

First visit first time eating out on Christmas Day. There were 7 in our party, 1 with fish allergies and 1 with gluten sensitivity. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. It was quite busy, there was a bit of a wait for our drinks, but it was not frustratingly long. The food came out at the perfect temperature and well seasoned. The low rating is entirely the fault of management. We went for Valentines day and had reservations. We got there 5 minutes ahead and saw a line out the door. Turns out, they all had reservations as well. They had completely overbooked. The staff was doing their best, and were all nice, but they could not fix the mess. We did not get seated until about 45 minutes later, and did not get any food until about an hour and a half.

Excellent food and service. Have eaten at Basil a dozen times the last few years and they never disappointed. You have a great menu with many small plates to share tapas style and wonderful entrées. Extensive wine map, fun bar area and a beautiful outdoor deck to eat and enjoy the fresh air. Basil has a very relaxed and relaxed atmosphere. Not a ton of pomp and circumstance, simply personable and friendly attention from owners and employees, and always a delicious and fun meal.

My wife and i went there deliberately early 5:30pm sitting so it was understandably empty with no ambience...nice menu...excellent service from Mary ? ....my wife's food was apparently perfect oysters followed by scallops however my food was disappointing...I ordered the veal bone-in chop...firstly it was very chewy and hard to cut even with a steak knife, but then it was smothered in an overpowering gravy which completely masked the flavor of the veal...very salty and something I'd expect at a cheap diner...a shame because it will be my lasting memory and will dissuade me from going back there.
