"We are not newcomers to this gem, but haven 't been since prior to COVID. We returned for lunch today with friends we hadn 't seen in over a year. It was exquisite. With only the owner present and 3 parties of four we were one) , the service was spot on. And the food???? Perfection. The focaccia teaser had me wanting more than the perfect bite. Between the four of us we had the beet salad such a lame description for this perfect summer blend of beets, blue cheese, fresh greens and a delicate vinaigrette), the Virginia black bass served whole and cooked perfectly, flaky and light) and the salmon with a sumptuous lemon risotto. We finished with the chocolate coconut torte. Organic does not mean tasteless or bland. This was a deep dark chocolate, not overly sweet, but rich with the coconut adding the additional punch. My table mates enjoyed a wonderful French white, while I was totally impressed with a very simple, extremely good margarita or as I like to call it "2 shots of agave blanco, a nice squeeze of lime juice and a few drops of simple syrup) Thank you for a wonderful lunch! We 'll be back sooner rather than later."

"The service was not the best I’ve had. Our friends arrived before we did and the waitress soon after we sat down. She took our drink order and after the drinks came she took our appetizer order. Our friends got theirs and about ten minutes later we got ours. I think the waitress had too many tables, because she kept saying I’ll check your appetizers. Our food came, it was delicious! Waitress never came back to see how we were doing and if we needed anything else. I only ate half and asked for a box twice. Again the food was great!"

"I have eaten enjoyed B and B every time I have eaten here but Something is now off. This restaurant used to be the best restaurant in Norfolk, but it clearly has gone downhill. Our waiter seemed annoyed from the very first moment. We felt as if we were imposing on his evening just to give him our order. He could’ve just been having a bad day. Our drinks had to be sent back. The steak was mediocre, and I certainly could have made a better steak at home. The dessert was delicious. A steakhouse of this caliber should always be one point, and it really suffered last night."

"I hadn't been to California Pizza Kitchen in a while (thanks to COVID), but lunch today was absolutely fantastic. The lunch combo was just right—pizza and soup! I enjoyed the Sicilian pizza topped with spicy marinara, Italian sausage, spicy capicola ham, salami, mozzarella, shaved Parmesan, fresh basil, and oregano. My sister had the California Veggie pizza, which was loaded with broccolini, eggplant, cremini mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted corn, red onions, and mozzarella. My niece opted for a classic Margherita pizza featuring Italian tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and Parmesan. The service was exceptional! I'm really glad we chose CPK today."

"I convinced a friend to eat at Luce although he stated to me that he had a negative racial experience there. I asked him to give it another try. We were prepared to wait as we did not have a reservation. When we arrived we were told we were next. As we waited, I noticed two people leaving. A Caucasian man entered and was seated. I assume he had a reservation but I did ask. The server said he didn’t but “you all wanted a bar seat and this is a servers seat”. I’m like I don’t work here and I do not know your seating terminology and you said we were next. She walked away and I saw her talking to another employee then began laughing. I became further enraged. I spoke to another server Krystal who assured me she would get us seated. Eric was with me and we are both Black Men. I never jump to the conclusion that people are being racist. I attended a White College and law school. I love all people. However, when my comrade already had what he perceived to be a racist experience and then this happens it just makes you wonder. The worse thing about the experience was how dismissive the initial White female was towards us. I love that restaurant but I will not be treated by anyone so poorly. I want to thank Christina and Crystal our eventual servers who took care of us in a professional manner. I also want to thank the chefs for incredible food. Please note, none of that matters when people are made to feel disrespected and unappreciated regardless of race. Someone needs to teach that initial server about the importance of always protecting the HOUSE!!"
