"For our appetizer, we chose the calamari, which was excellent. I noticed in other reviews that they provide a generous portion of marinara sauce, and I can confirm that. I'd much rather have too much than not enough! We typically order a couple of dishes to share, so we picked the redfish and a fried sampler platter. The fried shrimp was the best I've had in a long time, and the catfish was just to my liking. I prefer thinner fillets, as thicker ones can taste too "catfishy" for my palate. My dish came with fries, but I opted to add red beans and rice just to try them, and I was not disappointed. They use more tomato in their recipe than I'm accustomed to, but that gave it a wonderful flavor that I’ll definitely try to replicate at home. The other dish we ordered was the redfish topped with gumbo and crawfish tails, which had the perfect texture and flavor—I could eat it every day! We were too full for dessert, and we didn’t order drinks from the bar, but we appreciated that they serve filtered water. (It's surprising how many restaurants in Abilene skip this simple but significant detail.) Everyone at the restaurant was friendly. Our server was attentive and quick to clear away dirty dishes, which I really appreciated. The other servers in nearby sections were just as attentive and welcoming. When we arrived, there was a wait; they quoted us 20-25 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 10. Perhaps they gave us a longer estimate just in case, or maybe the large group that left in a huff cleared out the waiting area. Regardless, we didn’t mind waiting, especially after enjoying such a fantastic meal. The group that left included a man who was quite large and was yelling at the host while getting physical, which was uncalled for. His wife was egging him on. The manager handled the situation with remarkable politeness, even though the man was behaving like a petulant child. I believe in treating everyone with respect, and it's simply unacceptable for someone to intimidate another person, especially a woman half their size. The staff repeatedly apologized for the disturbance, which was unnecessary; they managed the situation with professionalism even though the rude guest didn’t deserve any courtesy. Thankfully, he eventually left, and everyone in the lobby applauded. We then went on to enjoy a lovely meal."

"I visited for the first time and entered through the back door near the parallel parking area, which left me a bit confused about where to place my order. Eventually, I made my way to the front where I found the register and the menu. My daughter was uncertain about what she wanted; the cashier was very patient with her. She initially wanted a bagel, but they were out, so she opted for chocolate cake instead. I ordered the chocolate zucchini bread. However, when my order was ready, I was informed that they were out of my daughter’s cake. They offered her what was left, and she settled for a cinnamon roll, mostly because she was hungry and didn’t have many options. At the food window, the cook returned a dime difference from my change, but I wasn't interested in it—I just wished the full menu had been available at 3 PM. The front room was uncomfortably hot, and I would have preferred to know that drinks were to be picked up at the register and food at a separate window. I felt a bit lost and awkward during the whole process, which could have benefited from better customer service. On a positive note, my daughter enjoyed the cinnamon roll. However, I found the zucchini bread a bit dry and overcooked for my taste. The macchiato was less sweet than I’m used to, and the same goes for my daughter’s vanilla frappuccino. This is just my personal experience, and we may give it another shot on a cooler evening. Thank you, even though we didn’t receive a “thank you, come back soon”—that's just how things go in Texas!"
