Great service and food. Loved the house and all the sweet touches like the doily coasters. I had the shrimp and grits and it was absolutely outstanding.

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner with 24 family members and friends to celebrate my husband's birthday. Sean truly excelled with the shrimp and grits and the pork tenderloin dishes. Live oak cafe is transitioning from a long standing reputable restaurant to a wedding and event venue, named The Live Oak on Howe. Long time owner and chef, Mundy, offers onsite/offsite catering, along with a special event planning and floral design company to round out the services. If you are looking for aspecial events venue for your wedding, rehearsal dinner, anniversary, any other celebratory occasion, this southern charm is worth consideration.

We had a table of 22 and the wait staff was great. They took a lot of pictures for us. The food was ok sorry to say. Several got the rack of lamb and my hubby got the porterhouse. The sauces are underwhelming and could use a bit of new creativity to a menu that is pricey for a non formally trained chef. The gumbo was thick, brown and clumpy, the shrimp portobello orzo appetizer had the balsamic glaze drizzle from 2003. When pushing ny steakhouse prices you need to bring your game. Atmosphere is great, service great, food eeh.

My husband and I and four of our friends visited Live Oak Cafe last evening for dinner. The food was absolutely fabulous. Most of us had the Mediterranean Seafood Bake with chef's choice of seafood. We had the halibut. Delicious! The other orders (trout and eggplant appetizer) were just as wonderful. For dessert, we shared a Bailey's Infused Creme Brulee. Wow is the first word that comes to mind. Absolutely awesome food. Our first trip and I ordered pecan crusted trout and it was the best I've ever had. Check the photos, I uploaded a photo of the dish. This restaurant is located in a cozy renovated house. Best to call in a reservation. My wife ordered baked scallops au gratin and claimed it was the best she has ever eaten. We both had a mixed drink and they were not shy on the liquor. If you want a fabulous romantic dinner with your favorite person, I highly recommend. I would not recommend for small rambunctious children because you are dining in rooms and the tables are close to other diners.

Sean and Bobbie are not just magical. In view of these crazy COVID times, my wedding was significantly reduced and we were on the market for a small, private venue for dinner after my husband and my wedding ceremony. This place fits the bill in size and budget. The ambience was amazing, the staff were phenomenal and the people said the Steak medallions were the best steak they ever had. I also heard my guests say the cake was the best wedding cake they had, but I would go so far to say it's the best cake I ever had.
