"This place is awesome. Great food and atmosphere! On this visit there was a very short line but due to COVID the cashier had to get our drinks so it was taking her a bit longer. She was doing an awesome job, didn’t catch her name but she had a Terre haute north high school mask on. A lady with a to go order came in and skipped the line and went right to the side and waited to pay and pick up there. The cashier very pleasantly explained to her to get in line. The lady then came up and said “cancel my order”. The cashier said sorry and continued to do her job. She was doing a great job and the lady just needed to wait like everybody else. Keep it up ricks smokehouse!"

Edit: I've returned, and I can confidently say that Rick's offers the best pork tenderloin in town. It's thick, juicy, and perfectly breaded!

What a fantastic discovery! The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The prices were reasonable. For just a few dollars more than fast food, the overall experience is well worth it.

One of the very few restaurants in Terre Haute that gets my business. All of the smoked meats are delicious but it’s the sides the keep me coming back. My mom and I ordered from Rick's Smokehouse for the first time tonight, and the food was outstanding! The ribs were fantastic, the steak was delicious, and my mom said her beans were to die for. I really enjoyed the sweet sauce that came with my ribs. The only slight letdown was the onion rings—they tasted like they were out of a bag. However, considering the price, the food was excellent! I was a bit sad to see it all gone after we finished eating.

We really enjoyed our meal. I had a brisket sandwich combo with mac and cheese, and a drink. Brisket was extremely moist and tender. Sweet BBQ sauce was great. Ahh, the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich combo with mac and cheese and a drink. She really enjoyed hers as well. My grandson had a tenderloin sandwich combo with fries and drink. The tenderloin, like most Indiana tenderloins, was huge. He couldn't finish it, but enjoyed what he did finish. This is one of those local BBQ places you only find in small towns and out of the way places. The point here is that the food is very good, the atmosphere is historic and the people are wonderful and humble. You get personalized service along with food that is locally made and has good flavor. These are the kind of places you don't find on purpose but by lucky events and never regret eating there. Don't miss out on the cookies for dessert, BUT if you do miss the cookies across the street is an old time real original Dairy Queen. Yes, a Dairy Queen without the red roof, but all the excellent ice cream treats.

What can I say? This place was fantastic! I really need to get to know Rick, who treated my group to a special tasting of a new Bourbon Batch he's developing. It was delicious! We had ribs, brisket, and pulled pork—all incredibly tender and juicy! There were at least four different BBQ sauce flavors available on the table, and they were all excellent. Most were tomato-based with vinegar and sugar. It seems like a family-run business, as Rick's wife and daughter were also involved. I absolutely love the memories and the vibe from the last 70 years in and around Terre Haute. I would highly recommend this place!
