"We drove two hours to my husband's birthday brunch on Sunday. We were hoping to sit outside and watch the freighters go by. The outside deck was closed and that was sad as it was such a beautiful day. This was not mentioned on their website. Our waiter Tony was personable and perfect. He was the best part of our dining experience. We won't be back as the food was only fair and a disappointment. There were several options, but the fish was mushy, the beef and peppers were tough, the eggs benedict were overcooked, the bacon was too salty. The desserts were substandard. The peach cobbler was made from canned peaches, the eclairs and strudel were still frozen. My husband liked the waffles, roast beef, ham, and breakfast sausages. Others had told us the food wasn't great but we wanted to eat outside so we took a chance. We should have listened to our friends and family."

"I had a great experience at Moxy! My server April was fantastic. As soon as I mentioned that I was gluten sensitive, which means I’m generally ok with cross contamination, she highlighted the menu items I could have. I got the fried calamari which was quite the treat since I rarely get to have fried foods. The roasted carrots were perfectly crunchy and generous for a tapa. I also got the crispy pork belly with a sweet potato butter. I was definitely full with 3 tapas but April convinced me I had to get the chocolate pots de creme and boy was she right. Thank goodness I was born with a second stomach for dessert. Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely come back. I feel it’s one of the best restaurants in Portsmouth NH."

"We always have a good meal at Anneke Jans. Last Saturday was the exception. It seems like our order for 2 was lost in a big party and took unusually long to arrive. There were two other tables that sat around us that came after us and were finished with their dinner before ours arrived. I ordered Chicken Francaise. I was just a breaded chicken cutlet with no sauce. They brough a side of sauce that was quickly made that tasted like chicken stock and garlic. We spoke to the owner, and he offered a dessert. We had just wanted to get going and asked for the check. The check came with no adjustments to the bill. The waitress said that is what the management and owner decided. We go there probably three times a year but will be hard pressed to get me to go again. Not every meal is perfect, I get that. Just offer some compensation when these things happen. It's a pricey restaurant and you pay for quality. It's not a place where scammers go to get free food. It's not about the money, it's about the ownership doing what is right. I'd still recommend Anneke Jans to someone, I'm just really disappointed with ownerships decision or lack thereof."

"We arrived early and were seated right away for a special occasion. They were very nice and wishing our graduate best wishes. However, we all felt like they were eager to feed us and get us out to turn over the table- very rushed. Food was average but overpriced. Nothing spectacular. My seafood bouillabaisse was luke warm, filled with lots of chewy mussels, 5 very overcooked rubber shrimp and an unshelled 1/2 lobster that seemed to have been cooked many hours previous. I was daring in that I'd worn a white shirt and ordered a red, brothy stew but I assumed, as with any other bouillabaisse, the lobster would be shelled and ready to eat. It wasn't. And I had to ask for a set of lobster crackers. Which, even though they're a high priced seafood restaurant on the Atlantic, in prime lobster country, they apparently didn't have. Instead I was given a pair of nutcrackers (which can suffice if you know how to use them but are difficult), no picks, no bib. Obviously, made a mess. Sad celebratory lunch."

"Such a cute wine bar and pastry shop. Would love to come back for the wine. We stopped in for the macarons though. They do have a really nice variety of them and we totally recommend trying the toffee one we could definitely tell they weren’t fresh. The shells were definitely not crisp on the outside like how they are supposed to be ya know ? Service was great and the actual restaurant is really cute. They have a bunch of treats and snacks that you can purchase that I haven’t seen in the USA only in France so I thought that was pretty cool."
