"Recently, there was a Facebook post on the Gloucester 411 page complaining about the dismal food culture in the area. Admittedly, I found it hard to disagree..... outside of two exceptions YROC and Sal's! I visit Gloucester Point every few weeks. And each and every time I am in town, I make a point of ordering something from Sal's. The bottom line: the food is delicious. Whether you are getting one of Sal's phenomenal pizzas or one of their entrees, it is all good. I have genuine trouble deciding between the white and the margherita because both are so incredibly delicious and well executed. Earlier, I had mentioned entrees. Sal's pasta and manicotti? Divine. Do you want to taste something prepared and cooked with love? Try their calzone, panzerotti, or pasta. It is beyond delicious. End of story? Sal's is phenomenal. Whether you are getting a salad, pizza, or other delightful dish everything is simply fantastic."

The restaurant offers generously-sized and tasty dishes at affordable prices. The service is excellent and delivery is very convenient. There are plenty of dinner options to choose from. Overall, it is a hidden gem in the local small town.

An above average plate of spaghetti and meatballs. The big problem is the new price for such a plate of spaghetti and meatballs $13.20. You're in Hayes. Don't take advantage of this economy as it's about to change to your detriment. In the meantime, Yorktown is worth a drive.

So, we had a fresh salad and the best eggplant parmesan. Two days later we returned for lunch; salads and cheese/mushroom pizza. For dinner we bought salads and two parmesan platters. Service was slow. They brought out our dishes one at a time. I had to add Parmesan cheese to my Alfredo sauce so it would have flavor. The cheese on the pizza was way overkill. Too much work to get a bite. My daughter ended up just picking the pepperoni off instead of eating the pizza. When she did the cheese RE-congealed to fill the pepperoni's vacant space. My son thought the breaded chicken sandwich was good though. The side salad was good. We liked the dressing.

We ordered three pizzas for takeout. All of them were lukewarm and were ready in less than the quoted 15-20 minutes. The second time I visited, my order was ready after only 10 minutes. How is it possible to produce a pizza at room temperature so quickly? The pizzas were not crispy or browned. Luckily, we were able to finish cooking them in our oven at home. There is a sign outside announcing that the restaurant is under new management. Hopefully, the chef takes note and ensures the pizzas are fully cooked before serving them. Don't just warm them up.

"Ordered smoked turkey melt with onion rings. The sandwich was large and filling. The turkey was flavorful. The side of onions rings were shoestring breaded onions that you’d put on top of a burger. Cold and bland. We actually laughed that a business would call those onions rings,lol. Hubby ordered the crab melt and hushpuppys. The crab patty was large and was filled with crab and not so much breading which was nice. You could taste the crab more so than the breading which is a plus for sure. Hubby mentioned a couple bites were pure salt, it was as though the mixture wasn’t stirred enough. The hushpuppys were delicious! The place was very busy on a Friday for lunch so we took the available booth- it was dated with a cracked up plastic upholstered bench seat that was not comfortable with shorts. Our table was sticky and dirty and I used napkins to clean it myself- ick. While there I realized that I didn’t see one table cleaned after people had left but I think the reason was because the customers bus their own tables so it’s hard to keep track of whose leaving and coming with the lunch rush. Just an observation."

"The food here is authentic, with all the kitchen and waitstaff hailing from Sicily. The Margherita pizza features a perfectly crisp crust paired with fresh homemade sauce. The handmade gnocchi is served with a delicious mushroom sauce and topped with pecorino Romano cheese, providing just the right amount of creaminess. The service is incredibly attentive, with the staff being highly responsive to every customer's needs. The sign is quite unassuming, with "Pizzeria" being the most prominent part, so it’s easy to overlook. If you're in Hayes, VA, be sure to input "Tony and Milena" into your GPS to avoid any confusion. I also want to mention that the restrooms are impeccably clean and well-maintained. Instead of paper towels, they offer rolled cloth ones in a basket, and there isn't a hint of unpleasant odor, which clearly reflects their attention to detail. This place is definitely worth the drive from Tabb, VA!"

"This place is great, very rustic and older looking. I not sure when the place was established, but it does look like it's been there a while. The food was awesome, I actually ordered a medium burger and that's what I got. The problem I get when I order medium burgers is they usually get cooked well done. Very irritating. Has an excellent view of the York River out the front window. A very good experience."

"It's rather unfortunate to be the one person that shares a bad review out of hundreds of good reviews. We came here based on all the great reviews! Maybe our taste buds are a little uppity, but there was absolutely nothing special about our sushi roles. Each role tasted the same, and they all tasted kind of bland. No spice, no flavor...nothing. The service was great and we had a very friendly waitress, so that was a plus. They need to be very careful what they play on the TV...lots of nudity and there were little kids in the restaurant. Hibachi might be worth a try next. Sushi is nothing to write home about."

"We were greeted by lively Mariachi music as we entered the bustling lunch crowd. Despite the packed parking lot, we were seated quickly. Our waitress promptly took our drink orders and returned with a platter of chips, salsa, and surprisingly, ranch dressing, which caught us off guard. After taking our meal orders, our food arrived at the table within minutes. The beef taco and enchilada were flavorful, though a bit greasy. The portion sizes were generous! They have an impressive lunch menu, along with a good selection of alcoholic beverages, desserts, and a large dinner menu. Our waitress was very attentive, and we were able to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed, finishing in about 40 minutes. We definitely plan to return!"
