"We live about 350 miles from NYC and visit once or twice per year. We try to visit Sel et Poivre about every other year for the past 20 years. The food is great, but what brings us back over and over again is it seems nearly everyone else in the restaurant is a local from the neighborhood. That alone is the best recommendation for a restaurant, but it helps me feel like a local when I am in town. So glad this restaurant made it through COVID unscathed; we are all the more fortunate for it."

One of the best French restaurants in the city, despite being so small of a restaurant. Their steak au poivre is to die for. You will pay the price for the quality tho.

Lovely dinner. This, small charming restaurant has true French classic cuisine. Finally I found a chef who can prepare calves liver. The proprietor sits at bar greeting his diners warmly.

My wife and I have been to Sel et Poivre a number of times. Last night was a bit disappointing. There were a number of empty tables and yet we felt a bit rushed, with too little time between our appetizers and entrees. My pork chop was too dry as well. Last night was one of the best meals we've ever had at this longtime favorite restaurant! Green bean salad and tomato mozzarella ones were better than usual and the roast chicken was wonderful. Had a bit more au jus (even a little more would be even greater! While they have daily specials, I do wish they'd change up their regular menu--perhaps a different salmon preparation, a new pasta dish, etc.
