"Updating an earlier review. Unfortunately they are under new ownership and it's just not great. Out waitresses shirt was filthy, I understand that can happen but they did just open for the day. That set the tone. They place the glasses upside down on a napkin covered plate and my napkin already had crumbs on it. Lots of fruit flies and other signs of overall uncleanliness. Unfortunately we will not be going back. I had a lovely lunch here today. They Chili Fry was flavorful and filling. A hint of spice but not overwhelming. Seating further within the restaurant, not the booths by the windows, has a much nicer atmosphere. Out server maintained the balance between helpful and attentive and not overbearing."

"I went in feeling like a starved glutton, only to leave feeling like a full bellied king. For the past week, I've been living off of gas station food through long hours of work. The roasted bone marrow appetizer followed up with Rustica's signature wagyu steak with potatoes and broccoli florets had given me a taste of culture and civility which our shared world is currently very much lacking. Bill, the first face of Rustica I had the pleasure to meet welcomed me in without a second word toward not having a reservation prior to my arrival. I was treated better than I treat myself most time. And a special thank you to the bartender Jaymie, the sharp spoken blonde with glasses and a warming smile, treated me wonderfully (the wine matched the steak so well, thank you). though I felt like a tramp just off the street as I first entered, I left feeling like a person again. Thank you, Rustica. Thank your staff as well, I hope this restaurant stays around for decades to come."

"The place: very cute, great vibe, no alcohol. The service: friendly, fast, not very knowledgeable. My birthday came while I was visiting a family member for a health emergency, so at night we tried to put together a little birthday thing in Kalamazoo. Found this place mentioned in the Vegan Kalamazoo group, and it was definitely a decent place to drop in on. Several vegan sandwich options, of which I got the Mast—a pesto caper deal. Surprisingly excellent! The omnis loved theirs too, for what it's worth. Unclear labeling on the menu made ordering harder than necessary. Only entrees were labeled, so asking about sides and other things involved asking the waitress a question, the waitress going back to the kitchen to ask, then repeating the process with the next question. The coleslaw turned out to be vegan, but it wasn’t labeled on the menu, so it didn't occur to me that it might be. So I ordered what turned out to be a pretty unprepossessing salad while my family members ordered the slaw, which turned to be VERY good, and a much better choice. (In retrospect, it makes me a bit nervous that no reviews mention the slaw, so I would double check when you order). Also, no V desserts…too bad for a birthday meal, or we would all have ordered something. Current menu does not seem to be available online, making prior research hard."
