The food here is fantastic, especially the ribs—they're incredible! I dined in for dinner, and the price was around $20–30 per person. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all at 5 out of 5. Highly recommend!

This is our favorite local restaurant. The duck confit with cherries is prepared in a fantastic Creole style. The pork chop is served with black-eyed peas and a rich Creole gravy. The burger is also excellent. Their seafood gumbo has a delicious dark roux. Everything is consistently wonderful. This restaurant is a true gem!

Love having a fine dining option in Scottsville!! We visit our family farm in the area from Richmond. Had the shrimp risotto and kale salad and both were delicious. I don’t like kale either. The batteau is a great little spot but in my opinion suffers from a problem a lot of small towns do. It purports to be, and charges as, fine dining with an extensive wine selection... but falls short on the promise. Its got a fantastic burger and a mediocre steak. I felt misled by the menu as well. We ordered the Batteau Burger, which was supposed to come with Batteau Fries. According to the appetizer menu, these fries are supposed to include an aioli sauce, but the ones we received did not have this sauce. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, we were disappointed to learn that aioli was available only for an extra charge. Since the burger already costs $18, I didn't think paying more for aioli was justified. While the burger was tasty, overall, the experience fell short of our expectations. We ended up leaving with lighter wallets and hungrier stomachs than we had hoped for. Kid-friendliness: Not at all suitable for kids.
