"We ordered the Candied Yam for our team at Crowe Horwath during tax season, as we're always on the lookout for exciting catering options. This place definitely delivered! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was outstanding. One of my colleagues remarked that it was one of the best meals I’d had in a long time. The fried chicken was amazing, and the sweet potato corn muffins were unmatched. The mac and cheese and the candied yams were also exceptional. With beans and greens that delicious, I might just consider going vegetarian! Thank you for a fantastic meal; we will definitely be calling you again to try more of your amazing food!"

I loved every visit! My Go-to is the valuable food with roasted chicken, candied yams and sweet potato muffin. Delicious aromas, super delicate meat and a good price. I also appreciate the smile and the friendly service!

Very tasty lunch menu. The perch and candied yams were very flavorful. This restaurant's decor is very well done and pleasing to the eye. They had some nice slow jams piping through their sound system. The staff is very friendly and quick.

Exceptional customer service and great value for your money! They serve the best mac and cheese in town, and the sweet potatoes are incredibly tender. The only real soul food in all of Grand Rapids. The greens and mac are my go-to favorites. Even my youngest loves the greens here. So happy a second location is coming because it will be closer to me so i can go more! Oh and the sweet tea is actually SWEET southern style( the best kind) i hope the cornbread muffins come back soon soooo good.

After being away from Virginia for 20 years, I've always wished for a place that serves great Southern seafood. I’m pleased to say that this restaurant exceeded my expectations! The food is absolutely delicious, and the portions are generous. The young man at the counter was very friendly, and the restaurant itself is impeccably clean. I highly recommend this place!

Absolutely delicious!! I tried fried perch, collard greens, and corn bread. The greens were perfectly balanced, just enough bitterness and salt and perfect texture. The fried perch had a flavorful crunchy breading and was perfectly cooked. And the cornbread! The ribs had a tad bit more sauce than I’d normally use, but, they were amazing! My sides were steamed cabbage and mashed potatoes with gravy. Both were prepared to perfection. My wife had the perch with green beans and corn. She also thought that the meal was excellent. All around good home cooking.The service was great, the establishment was very clean. Looking forward to a return trip. Lots of different foods to try yet.

After moving from North Carolina some years ago, I have not been able to find GOOD soul food. Everything has been decent-average. The Candied Yam meet and beat my expectations. The Collards were delicious, the catfish was superb, and the candied yams brought me back to family owned soul food restaurants down south. Seriously a 5 star review isn’t enough for this place. Although I got takeout, the inside had a farmhouse atmosphere.
