The First Ward House

Friendly and helpful waitress. Delicious burger. We enjoyed the sandwich fixings-lettuce, onion, pickle. The toasted bun makes such a great tasting sandwich. The fries were tasty. Definitely would go back.

The hamburger was served hot and tasted delicious. It took some time to arrive since there were others ahead of us. Our server kindly swapped out a small side salad for us upon request. The deck area was lovely, although some of the furniture could use a bit of updating.

The food was really good and came out in a timely manner. The service was not good at all. Our server sat and talked on her phone for quite some time. At one point I got up from our table and went to the bar myself for a drink. It wasn't busy she was just more involved with her phone than the customers. Visualizza piatti

We really enjoy First Ward! The service is always great, and the food is delicious. My older kids have fun playing pool or Cornhole while we wait for our meal, and our youngest loves the classic pinball machine. It's a very relaxed and casual atmosphere, making it a perfect place to unwind after a long day.

The food was excellent, and the service was acceptable, though it improved once the staff realized we had been waiting for a while. We noticed that other customers who arrived after us received prompt attention, likely because they were regulars—the server greeted and chatted with them before taking their orders. Perhaps it's just my perspective as a first-time visitor, but I wasn't particularly impressed.

I've never eaten at this establishment before, I ordered the lucky burger via Door dash due to being under the weather. I will say it's a very large burger and you get your money's worth, however, the fries and burger were overcooked. I think in fairness to this restaurant, I would try them again but in person to where I can request a medium well burger instead of well done. I will review it again at a later date. Somebody close took me here once and since then ive been back 3-4 times. Its a great place to be during the week when their slow and or when their busy on the weekend it seems like a college bar. Got good tunes playing. The bartender is friendly. They got a big deck on the back where you can play some games. They even made janga or jango (the game where you slip blocks out without making the tower fall) they made that game out of 2x4's and its one hell of a game to play buzzed or drunk. The food was fantastic. Great chicken great burgers. Ive been told to try the loin sandwich but thatll be the next time i go there.

Went to pick up a to go order from this restaurant and was treated horribly by the pretty blonde waitress/bartender in the T-shirt dress. She came over and asked what was on the order, I proceeded to tell her what was on the order, mind you there were 4 items on the order. As I told her the first 2 items she rolled her eyes and said, “I got it” and walked away didn’t even let me finish. I waitressed for 10 years and never treated a customer in this way. Her customer service skills are horrible, not to mention the entire store front on St. Joseph Ave. was filthy. An embarrassment to the entire Northside if I do say so myself.

We're not sure if the high ratings for this place are because of the atmosphere or because of some amazing live music, but the food was incredibly lousy. The Cobb salad says that they use greens. I also specifically requested they use greens when I ordered, just in case they tried sliding in iceberg or romaine. I still ended up getting JUST iceberg lettuce that looked like it came out of the package with the carrot shreds. My sister's grilled tenderloin was tough as rubber, and to make matters worse, the fries seemed like they'd been cooked at least 4 hours before. Unfortunately, we ordered this over the phone and had our brother pick it up for us, if not this food would have been sent back.... Visualizza piatti
