"I had been to the Bavarian a couple of times but it was usually closed due to it being the offseason. After a leisurely hike to Lake Williams, we decided to stop in for some German beer and fare. Since it had been raining, the outdoor furniture was soggy, so we opted to eat inside. The inside was welcoming, especially after being caught in the rain. Order for food and beer was placed at the bar. We also paid at the same time. Pretty much the same process as Door 38 Pizza. As a reward for our hike, my wife and I splurged. She had the Veggie Melt and I had the Veal Brat with German potato salad. We shared a large pretzel with beer cheese. I capped off the order with a 32 oz stein of Paulaner Salvator Food came out in about 10 minutes. The veal brat I had was awesome, while the potato salad was a bit disappointing. My wife liked the veggie melt but it was too much food for her. We both loved the pretzel and beer cheese. My only gripe about this spot is the price. Everything seemed overpriced but I understand they gotta make money too and only have a few months to do so. The scenery does help justify the price but it started to rain again as we ventured out to the patio again. Luckily we found us a spot to keep us dry. I would definitely come back here a couple of beers in the future. May have to think twice about eating here though..."

We loved this place! We were celebrating our engagement and both Leah and Andrew went out of their way to make sure we felt special and had an amazing time. I'll be recommending to all my friends and I hope to be back soon!

We almost always make our way to The Bavarian when we’re in Taos. Located at the Taos Ski Valley, this unique restaurant caters to the skiers as well as drive up diners. The view is spectacular. The food is very good, too. I’m always good for a schnitzel, giant soft pretzel and beer! It definitely is a fun place to go. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

So much fun in the winter, the ambiance makes you feel as if you are in the Swiss alps. The menu is all German and very tasty. In the winter they made us line up outside in the 15 degree weather, that wasn't fun, and then we had to fight for a table, also not fun. But, it's a great experience and worth visiting now and then. Oh, we went in the summer and the music was really loud and obnoxious (some 1970's funkadelic) so a warning for sensitive ears

I had a wonderful time on the sleigh ride, but it would have been helpful to be informed about the extra charge on top of the $125 prix fixe dinner. The atmosphere was fantastic—rustic and European in style. However, the food didn’t meet my expectations. The appetizers and sides lacked flavor, the soup was overly spiced, and the main dishes were just average. The apple strudel was especially disappointing. Service was also quite slow, which was puzzling since most of the meal seemed pre-prepared. Overall, it didn't feel worth the price. View menu

We had a fantastic experience enjoying authentic German food and beer! Sitting on the deck was delightful, especially with the stunning scenery surrounding us. However, we faced some challenges finding a way to get there aside from skiing. Since we had a few newcomers in our group who couldn't ski during the day, we searched for shuttle options from the TSV basin. Unfortunately, it appears that unless you’re a guest at the Blake, transportation is quite limited. It would be great if TSV could offer better lunch transportation from the basin to the Bavarian and the nearby Phoenix Grill, as there seems to be a demand. Despite the transport issues, the visit is definitely worth it!

My girlfriend called a week prior to make plans for my 40th birthday. So, we make the 3 HOUR TRIP to come up, only to find out the fucking place is closed for a private event. Needless to say, we're both EXTREMELY PISSED. I'm pissed, because I had been looking forward to this since I knew about it and the fact that my girlfriend went through all the work to try and surprise me. She's pissed that we got all dressed to and came all the way out here to be denied service. Not a mention of this on their website or anything, so we thought we were in the clear. This is highly disrespectful, by all staff involved in not making this more known, so we (and I'm assuming probably others) were likely inc...

The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, but upon arrival, there were no available seats despite many tables being unoccupied and uncleared. The service operates on an order-and-pay-at-the-register model, with a food runner bringing the food to the tables. However, I found it surprising that I was prompted for a full-service tip at the register, even though no one checked in on us after our food was delivered. I ordered the trout, which was a small and thin portion. While it had decent flavor, it was nothing special. The mashed potatoes were quite bland, and the red cabbage unfortunately had a very unpleasant taste, making it inedible. The goulash I tried came in a small bowl and fe... View menu

This charming Bavarian establishment holds a special place in my heart, with its inviting atmosphere, delightful aromas, cozy feel, delicious food, and overall fun. It truly felt magical. Although they’re working hard to revive that magic, they haven't quite succeeded yet. We believe someone like Thomas could help bring it back to life. The sleigh ride dinner on Saturday was a promising start. While the trout was tasty, it wasn’t prepared almondine (no almonds), but the sauce was pleasant. My husband enjoyed the braised ribs, which were also good. However, the sides were rather underwhelming. The haricot verts were cooked well but lacked seasoning—no butter or spices, just plain. The carrot...

The food remains exceptional, with the sausage plate being my top choice. I particularly love the weisswurst. This year, they've introduced some lighter menu items like sea bass and various salads, but you can still enjoy hearty favorites like the delectable spaetzle and schnitzels. One downside is that since a new chef has taken over (after the previous one left unexpectedly), the dishes have been a bit saltier than I remember. In fact, the gravy burned my mouth during their opening weekend due to its saltiness. The new deck and outdoor space are lovely, and I've made many great memories there, especially after hiking in the glorious high-altitude sun with a stein in hand. I've also attend...
