"In the past we have loved every meal that we have had at Steigler's and now the Copper Bar. We were worried when the transition took place, but the new owners wisely decided to keep the same theme, menu, and chief. The food, ambience, service, etc. has always provided a great dining experience until last night. My children and grandchildren are visiting from Texas for Spring Break skiing. We decided to take them to the Copper Bar for dinner. While the ambience was still the same complete with a roaring fire, the rest of the evening was a disaster. The waiter was a great guy and retrospectively I should have handled things differently, but the meal was awful. First, 3 of the 4 adult meals were not what we ordered not even close. The waiter offered to take them back but we had waited so long yes, the wait time was unacceptable) for the meals to be served coupled with young children 6 and 10) tired from traveling, we accepted the meals. This was an extremely bad decision. The weinersnitzel which was incorrectly severed 3 of us ordered the Bratwurst plates) was cold and relatively tasteless. The usual sides which come with this dish were different and not particularly good. Again, I should have sent everything back and to his credit the waiter offered) but due to time factor, tired grandchildren, and a large degree of personal embarrassment in recommending the restaurant, I did not. The bill was significant around $250.00 which would have been fair had the meal come anywhere close to what we have become used to. Everyone can have a bad night and I hope that was the case with our meal. We will go back because for 30 years we have enjoyed this restaurant. If however our experience of last night has become the norm then we will reluctantly have to file Steigler's/ The Copper Bar into our book of pleasant previous memories. I hope our next experience and potentially our last) will come up to their previous standards. It has been a great place for so long."

We hadn't been since the restaurant changed owners and it is as good as it used to be. The food was great.

Seriously this place has nothing to do with Alpine food properly prepared. Food and place are just ok, but they should not advertise it as a taste of the Alps.

The restaurant features a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is incredibly helpful, particularly when it comes to addressing allergy concerns. The food was outstanding. View menu

The Copper Bar is a timeless alpine restaurant, ideal for a wonderful ski town experience. I've been there several times, and each visit offers an atmosphere that is genuine, friendly, and relaxing, while honoring the traditions of climbers, yet maintaining its own unique character.

This restaurant features Austrian food. The food was well prepared and the service and atmosphere were excellent. It is fairly expensive though, so best for special occasions. You can also eat in the bar, but the menu is fairly limited. The menu and food are much the same as Stiegler's, the previous owner of the restaurant.

that was a total disappointment. we have enjoyed climbers for many years, but will not be back into the copper. the food was disappointing, the service was slow, the decor looks tired, and the love for the detail that became known to climbers was missing. for example, although the waiter traditional Austrian white heats wore, they were neither fresh nor ironed, and our lacked the traditional tie. overall, very sloppy everywhere. what a shame. I had an interesting experience with my reservation through OpenTable. The day before, I received a reminder about my confirmed booking, along with a traffic update just before arriving at the restaurant. Shortly after, I got a request to leave a review. However, when we arrived, the restaurant was locked, and a sign indicated that it was closed for the season. Is this what virtual dining has come to? It seems like the actual restaurant meal is missing. I apologize for not posting a picture of the sign on the website. I’m left wondering how I can trust OpenTable for future reservations. They did offer a gracious apology, but from now on, I feel I need to call any restaurant I book to confirm...

this was the last day of their winter season. they will be closed to mai at some point. the lamb dogs were delicious. the Raclette remover was just right and unique for the valley here, with sweet potato under the melted Raclette cheese. if I went alone, I would order that, and dessert, and call it delicious meal. we go here once a month, as we did when peter steigler was responsible. on another note I asked for wheelchair access and they told me they had a ramp that they would get out for me. that is hardly acceptable. I think they could build a ramp on the farther away set of steps. or at least 2 tracks for the wheels and leave the steps open in between. I don't need a wheelchair right now...

"I regret to write this review, especially since I've given this restaurant five stars in my previous visits, but I was quite disappointed yesterday. For the first time, both the service and the food fell short of expectations. When we arrived, we weren't greeted at all, and there was no farewell when we left—just a simple "3," and then we were seated. We ordered spring rolls for appetizers, Boston rolls, duck ramen, and spicy fire noodles (I can't recall the exact name). I was dealing with sinus issues and specifically wanted a nice bowl of ramen to help clear my chest and nose. Unfortunately, the duck ramen arrived without any broth, even though it came with a spoon meant for broth. All I received were seasoned noodles—no broth whatsoever. I pointed out that this dish is usually served with broth and questioned the reason for a spoon in a ramen bowl if there was no broth. The waitress, who hasn't worked there as long as I've been a customer, insisted that this is how it is always served. She kindly offered to add more broth, but when she returned, she brought just a spoonful—literally, a spoonful of broth. To make matters worse, the noodles were also undercooked. I sampled a few pieces of duck and left the rest of the dish untouched. My son also complained that his noodles were chewy. Throughout this experience, no one even asked how our meals were. For an $80 meal, it was quite disappointing. I plan to return to Varee, as I've always had great experiences there, but I felt it was important to share this just in case others have noticed a decline here as well."
