"I discovered this restaurant while looking for The Cuesta Cafe, which is no longer in business. A friend had suggested The Cuesta Cafe to me because of its delicious food and because of an article in the New York Times that mentioned a community in the area that still speaks a nearly extinct dialect of Spanish. El Monte is a unique little cafe that also operates as a liquor store. It has a jukebox, bandstand, and dance floor in the back where I believe the locals gather. I ordered the classic breakfast, which was delicious and well-priced."

Good food at great prices. It is a wonderful place to eat, drink, and have fun. The only issue is that I wish they would get new pool cues.

The food at this restaurant was tasty, but many items listed on the menu were unavailable during our visit. Prices ranged from $10 to $20 per person. The food and service both received a rating of 5, while the atmosphere was a 3. We recommend trying the Hamburger with Cheese, Bacon, and Green Chile.

On a visit to Questa, our relatives suggested we go for lunch. When we arrived, the store was open, but the restaurant was not open. We were disappointed and didn't get to try the food or the service. I know this is a small town, but they should make it clear when the restaurant is open or closed. We wasted our time going there. Very fun place out in Questa. The food was good but the staff were awesome. We were so impressed by their staff and how courteous and attentive they were. Also, the atmosphere is so fun. You walk in the front door and never would have guessed that there was a restaurant in the back. There is also what appears to be a dance hall or something similar to. I requested for the green chilies to be omitted from my dish due to personal preference, but they simply removed the seeds instead. Unfortunately, I only realized this after it was too late. As a result, I am now experiencing a severe stomach ache and the chilies also triggered a migraine. In terms of the food, I would rate it a 1, while the service was a 5 and the atmosphere was a 1.

Do not be fooled by the front of the building - it may look like just a liquor store, but there is a full restaurant in the back! My family decided to have breakfast here and we had a delightful experience. The French toast was light and topped with powdered sugar, the bacon and breakfast patties were delicious, and my boyfriend claims their breakfast burritos are in his top 10. The prices are the most affordable in the Red River and Questa area. This place is a charming and lovely spot for breakfast!
