"This restaurant has a lovely interior, and the food is absolutely fantastic—the cauliflower is especially addictive! The service was quick, and the staff were very accommodating when we needed to get our food to go because our son was too excited about going to Vampire Penguin. Everything was enjoyable overall, but I can't give a perfect score because our waiter made a comment about my son’s excitement, saying that’s why he’s waiting to have children. He went on to mention how we don't get to relax, sleep, or have date nights. While it’s true, it felt quite rude and made me very uncomfortable during our visit."

"The Wilcox was a wonderful place to experience the lovely town of Aiken with a southern charm ombiance. Comfortable rooms with excellent food and extremely friendly staff. The chocolate bundle dessert was so amazing! The lobby and restaurant area are so very comfortable and well appointed. The pool area was so relaxing with the waterfalls running in the pool. Wonderful landscaping around the hotel. Discovered the best clothing shop just steps away from it. Affordables Apparel was the best clothing store we visited. Thank you, Aiken, for a wonderful visit. Nearby activities: Great shopping in Aiken in general. Again, we loved Affordables Apparel within a few steps next door. Safety: Very safe neighborhood. Walkability: Easy walking to sites, shopping and other restaurants. Food drinks: The breakfast, dessert and coffee we had was very good. "As soon as you walk into Metro Diner, you’re greeted by a bright and clean atmosphere. The first thing you notice is the cooking grill area, complete with a counter and stools for customers—this really enhances the nostalgic '50s vibe that the decor exudes. The menu features an impressive selection of food from various cuisines, and the specials displayed on the large chalkboard looked particularly enticing. We decided to order the fried chicken, which caught our attention. While chatting about the day—my wife had explored the railroad museum and a park in downtown Aiken—our server brought over a massive plate of chicken. My wife opted for the chicken and waffles, which came with strawberry butter and a sweet hot sauce that turned out to be delicious maple syrup mixed with Pete's Red Hot. I chose the fried chicken served with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were fantastic—crisp, flavorful, and well-cooked, going beyond just being blanched. The mashed potatoes had that perfect homemade touch, with small bits of potato that confirmed they were made with real ingredients, not from a mix. Now, let’s talk about the chicken. Typically, my wife and I only eat the chicken itself, avoiding most of the skin and breading for health reasons, as I usually prefer just a little of the crispy coating. But Metro Diner has a secret: their fried chicken was so good that we ended up eating nearly all the skin and coating! Honestly, this was the best fried chicken we’ve ever tasted. It was served piping hot, and while we started with small bites to let it cool, we were completely captivated by the sweet and spicy sauce. The setup at the table made it easy to replenish the sauce as needed, and I even took home the recipe, which we've already used a couple of times. Our service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Metro Diner truly lives up to its reputation for variety. I can only imagine how delicious breakfast must be there!"

"We ordered 2 half chicken combos for two of the kids, both were **** around the bones. The chicken was overall undercooked. The skin was stretchy.There was enough blood to bleed onto the meat. I got the ribs and pulled pork meal. The pulled pork was good but a little dry. Make sure to use the yummy sauces to help with the dryness of the pulled pork. The ribs were also dry and did not bite well. I also did not care for the rub on the ribs either. Husband got the brisket, he didn 't eat it. He said it was very dry. He said that when he chewed the meat it felt gummy in his mouth. Maybe there wasn 't enough marble in the meat? The all beef hotdog was a hot with my son. He ate the whole thing. The 3 sauces were very good.. the spicy one was just the right amount of heat. The mustardy sauce was kinda tangy. I really enjoyed the tang. I did not try the sweet BBQ sauce but my youngest ones gave a thumbs up and asked for more."
