Hy-vee Grocery Store

I never have any problem shopping here. Everyone's so chill and relax. I actually ran into somebody from high school and chatted for a second. The cashier was really nice, it appears she had a long day, and didn't get the chance to take lunch. Solid place, just a little expensive. I'd say it's worth it.

Often forced to use the self checkout here. If you need help at self checkout, the employees may be a bit rude. I've dealt with both rude and helpful employees here, but most often they're rude. Last time I went here for some shopping there was a guard there that looked like a police officer, which took me by surprise.

My friends and I got Chinese food from the Asian Restaurant. We were greeted by Marcel. We were all unsure of what to order, and we got the best recommendations from him. He helped me with my food allergies and I was able to enjoy my lunch worry free. 10/10 restaurant experience. Thank you Marcel for making our lunch so special. View menu

This review is specifically for George in floral he was an absolute lifesaver and a gem to work with. I came in and needed balloons on the spot and he made it happen. He helped me get a bouquet together too in order to celebrate a graduate. The floral department was slammed with graduations, Mother's Day, weddings and Proms, but George kept his cool and was really friendly. Thanks George!

The deli, the meat counter, and the hot food area were all closed with no explanation today. I'm assuming it was due to the weather this morning, but this afternoon, the roads are perfectly clear and the store was busy. I was lucky and didn't have any issues with the self checkout today, but watched as two others stood there with the blinking red light of doom until a bagger (or possibly a manager, as the customer service desk was vacant) finished and wandered over.

My husband and I frequently visit this place because of the exceptional experience it offers, along with its fantastic selection of produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and seafood. However, I'm writing this review specifically to highlight a store associate named Alec. He was incredibly helpful, not just to me, but also to his manager, Mary, who was already assisting a few other customers with a receipt issue. Very bad experience with an online order pickup, I waited in line nearly an hour to get my order. The employee that was working was only helping guest in one lane versus both. After receiving a text that my order was ready for pick I was told that all parts of the order were not ready. I understand short staffing but this is a larger issue then being short staffed. The last time we did a online order for pick up our order was given to another guest. I am always willing to give business second chances but this will be my last time shopping with Hy-Vee. I did an online order with Woodmans the other day and waited less then 5 minutes to receive my order.

We ordered a few items from the catering menu from this store last week. Overall, extremely disappointed in the quality of the items on that order. The shrimp should have never been allowed to leave the store. They smelled horrendous and we ended up throwing out well over half the tray. The boneless wings were extremely dried out and were mostly breading and no meat. The chips that were served with the spinach and artichoke dip were quite stale. Even the cheese tray was dry. We have ordered from HyVee on occasion in the past, and the quality has always been better. However, this order will make it hard to ever order from here again. Moreover, the selection is limited since a large part of the store is taken up by specialty departments that suffer from reduced hours. It’s frustrating when just one employee is expected to handle the workload of an entire team. They've also started replacing fresh items with lower-quality commissary products while simultaneously raising prices—everyone notices this drop in quality. And let’s not forget the ten EV chargers they installed at the far end of the parking lot. They’ve cut employee hours to save money, likely to avoid paying benefits, and they want to reduce overtime even when one person is managing a full team’s responsibilities.
