"This morning we were in the area on business. We had the choice of the standard breakfast places; IHOP Denny's but I'm not a fan of either one so I always look for the hole in the wall places or at least places I haven't heard of. We saw Generals Cafe had good reviews and hadn't heard of it in Texas so we thought we'd give it a try. The short version is that in a week of working on California, it was the best grub we've had by far. The inside is what you'd expect for an old school diner... The good smells, old folks eating, old decor, just right.I got the country skillet (a good 9/10 for taste and 10/10 for portions), my wife got the breakfast sandwich and rated it 10/10. She absolutely LOVED the country potatoes. I got the hash browns but after tasting her potatoes, I shoulda got the country potatoes instead. Oldest daughter got an ommlett and loved it. Kids got pancakes, bacon and sausage. We requested crispy bacon and we got crispy bacon. They loved their breakfast at well. To top it all off, our waitress was as nice as she could be. All in all, 10/10 experience.. Total for all five of us to eat with waters all the way around save one orange juice, was $92.00. kinda steep for what I'm used to in Texas but this is California. Can't recommend this place enough! Great all the way around."
