"Went here for a double date a few weeks back. A friend at the table was having issues finding a plate she wanted. When she asked for a pasta plate with an order of chicken ON THE SIDE, it was flat out refused. Everything was prepared the true Italian way . I payed for my appetizer and we left. I do not belive this food is cooked on premises; it is made elsewhere (the other restaurant) and brought in. This is why they can not simply add a chicken breast on the side.What really amazes me is the audacity the owner has to be combative and criticize a factual review. She then took the time to try to shame my friend who wrote a truthful review not once but twice by editing her response a week later after she sat there googling him. This is shameful for the owner and her staff. I do not know where these 5 star reviews talking about service come from because the woman was rude, pushy and arrogant as an angry boar.Hint for the staff: If a customer asks what a plate is prepared like, do not tell them to google it as your first answer. Response This is a case of bad communication turned worse. At no point did we want that. She simply asked for chicken of any kind to be added to the dish. When the waitress said no, we asked if we could pay for just a piece of fried chicken to be eaten with it. Flat out refused.There is no hate involved in this post. I liked my appetizer. I disliked the way the waitress was pushy and kinda rude. My friend chose to write a review at the time. I did not. Someone responded day of. Some one then chose to google him and change the review response a week later? Very unprofessional, rude, and uncalled for.My review is again a service review on the first issue in the resturant, and now this googling habit.Good appetizer, bad manners."

"Forget about it!!!!!! The best sandwich in New Jersey. Gio is the man. He makes every sandwich with love and passion. Not like those other guys, that slap the meats on there and then drench it with oil and other condiments and make the subs soggy. At Giovanni?s, he puts Balsamic vinegarette, roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella on the sandwich and the Italian bread, till this day I don?t know where he gets it. It?s kind of toasty on the outside but soft in the middle. It just compliments the sandwich. And he has many sandwich options. All in all, the place is great."

"Absolutely beautiful decor. Sitting by the wall to wall glass overlooking the water,watching the lights come on as night fell,seeing the tugboats sail by was reason enough to come here. The server was very attentive, being sure my order was correct and to my satisfaction. My mango mocktail could have benefited from slices of real mango,but they did not overdo the syrup,the fresh basil and lime,made for a good tasting drink. The Mediterranean salad could have used fresh dill and thyme,had they dressed it with the olive oil that came in the small cup of olives,it would have been heaven. However I did just pour thr oil over the salad,along with the olives. The golden raisins mixed in with the olives made them excellent. My lamb chop eS cooked to a perfect medium rare. This is an excellent restaurant, l look forward to returning."

"What a wonderful treasure in the heart of Bayonne! The service was great, staff was attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious and most important reasonably priced. But my favorite part is the entertainment! Music was great! I'm a former 18 year resident of Bayonne. Wanting to gather with friends I met up with 5 of them at Mezcal on the recommendation of another Bayonne resident and I'm really glad we did! Absolutely loved this place on a Friday night!!! Highly recommend it!!"

"I used to enjoy this restaurant, but now it's awful. I'm not sure if they have new management or new chefs. The sausage and paprika dish I ordered was poorly prepared and not grilled. The meatball parmigiana had only a small amount of Parmesan cheese, which seemed like they were cutting costs. The penne alla vodka was decent, but I wouldn't risk ordering any more sandwiches from here. I had tried their pizza once before and didn't like it, especially when there are so many other great pizza places in Bayonne. On top of all this, my last order was delivered very late. It's safe to say I won't be ordering from here again."
