"The staff was friendly, and the food and drinks were delightful. I tried the Fire Fighters Peach Old Fashioned, which featured local peaches, bourbon, peach brandy, aromatic bitters, fresh orange peel, and Luxardo cherries. I also had the First Responder Caesar, which consisted of a grilled, seasoned 8oz swordfish steak served over a classic Caesar salad with homemade croutons, parmesan cheese, and house-made Caesar dressing. Finally, I indulged in a pork sandwich and a delicious blueberry cheesecake!"

"We started with a reservation at on Christmas Eve … they called to move the reservation earlier multiple times during the weeks leading up to it (three different times to be exact) ending up at just days before the reservation date. Clearly not the time we wanted, but they were the only place open in town that night, so we kept it. Then two hours before our reservation, they called to move it up a fourth time to because they wanted to go home early. At that point it was too late to go to any grocery store to make dinner at home so we begrudgingly agreed, even though at that point it was basically a lunch rather than anything close to a normal dinner hour. They rushed us to order within minutes of arriving, but the food came quickly so we were done with drinks apps and main courses within minutes of arriving Our waitress asked if we wanted dessert, so we ordered some. She came back and said they had closed the kitchen and we couldn’t have dessert. At They had closed the kitchen and weren’t serving dessert on a holiday, FIFTEEN minutes after our reservation was set to start just early that day. It was a disaster. Oh and not to mention when ordering she asked us to pick two sides for main courses, when we had ordered one each. Then returned to say we only had one side but did we want to pay extra for those second sides. We didn’t ask for a second side until she wrongly insisted we had two. So no, we don’t want to pay for sides we never wanted to order in the first place. It was disorganized, unprofessional, and an overall awful way to spend our holiday. And they had tables that had been seated around the same time, so it was by no means dead or else I would have understood the rush to get out. Not to mention the crowd of town drunks sitting at the bar. People had tried to come in after us w/out reservations and were turned away. If you’re going to be open on a holiday BE OPEN. If you’re going to do it like that, just close."

"I say it all the time; me giving 5 stars to any establish is like a solar eclipse, in that it doesn?t happen often. The ultimate rating encompasses so much more than just one or two key things. This place has a little of everything. The ambiance is A-1. A pianist laying as soon as you walk in, granted, I went here on Valentine?s Day . A cozy booth in front of a wall mounted fire place. The lights were dim and the environment was welcoming. There were people all around at other tables, yet privacy was somehow abundant. The bar was tastefully decorated to fit the occasion. The service was where it needed to be for an upper scale place. Yes, the food and drinks are pricy, $200+ for a dinner for two. Our waitress was engaging, while not being too invasive, a hard act to balance which most don?t pull off . The chef came over to talk to us about the meal we chose, a good touch . The food in places like this is prepared to be as decorative as it is meant to be tasty. All in all, this quaint, cozy little place in Thompson, CT gets the ever elusive top rating. It is well deserved! Definitely worth a visit. Just be ready to pay! Enjoy!"

"Our first time there, we went in and were told it was a 20 minute wait so we gave our phone number and waited. We watched as people came and went. We sat outside for 45 minutes waiting. We ended up leaving. I called and told them just take my number off the list we obviously were not going to get a table. The girl was slightly rude about it so I just left it at that. 2 minutes after we hung up a guy called back and apologized saying he crossed our number off thinking he sat us. Mistakes happen. The fact that he called me back right away shows he cares. We will definitely be back to try the food."

"This place is the ABSOLUTE BEST place to eat in this entire county! I've been all around in this area, and the food is mediocre in this area at best. Breakfast seems to be huge in this area and the places are always packed regardless of the quality of food, but in our search haven't been satisfied with the quality or price of breakfast in SE Connecticut, until our trip to Marika's. The food was hot fresh and most importantly, super tasty and perfectly cooked. If you have any type of craving for breakfast this is the only place in the area worth going to I promise you, and if you follow my reviews you know I'm very honest, and as a cook can be pretty tough on the food at times because i expect a certain level of quality, so trust me when I say this place is my new go to for breakfast when I'm in the area, and who knows maybe I'll find myself in the area just for a hungry man special every now and then ."
