"Came here on a casual night drive and by dinner time we didn't know where to stop to eat. We were driving on the 27A and looking for places for dinner and we came across this place with very good ratings. Food is very good and well made. The Miso soup was not overly salted as some other Japanese places I've been. The décor is very typical of Japanese as it has these semi private booths which I have never seen before in any Japanese restaurants. Really liked this place and service was attentive. Even though it's a bit far from where I live I will def stop by when I am near this establishment."

"Had rez for a Friday eve for two- Arrived a bit early and sat at bar for drinks-all good- nice decor live music good drinks. Got seated and it was down hill from there- sat there for a good mins and nothing. No greeting-water-or drink request. Now granted it was a Fri and a little busy but nothing? Finally our server arrived apologized and took our drink order. The food was really not that good- the special calamari app was especially terrible- a bowl w sweet n sour sauce at bottom one pepper and small obviously not fresh but from frozen squid rings- This is the South Shore of LI! We’re a half a mile from the water and your charging bucks for this? The asiago wings also tasted watery not fresh and tasteless and the artichoke hearts, small and also bland. Our mains a “special” fish dish was ok but also oddly no taste. The other main the skirt steak was especially tough and thin. The bill over hundred and twenty dollars- This is the second time this happened here and not sure what the deal is- We’ve been coming to LaT for several years and have decided to give it a break for a while. Ill spend my time and elsewhere"

"I 've visited Café Joelle on and off over the past 20+ years, and my experiences have been quite inconsistent. While the food quality varies, the issue that stands out most is the treatment I 've received. On one occasion, I tried to make reservations, only to be told, We don 't take reservations. Yet, when I arrived, they asked if I had a reservation, which was a bit confusing. Another time, I put my name on the waitlist for a table and waited right in front of the restaurant. I even checked in multiple times, but when I went inside for the last time, I was told they gave my table away because they couldn 't find me outside, despite me never leaving the front of the building....... blah blah blah yada yada yada each time there was an issue. These experiences have left me feeling unwelcome, and by the time I do sit down, the frustration overshadows any enjoyment of the food. Sadly, my visits have been marked by a sense of aggravation. So, when friends suggest dining here, I tend to decline. It 's a shame that the service issues have overshadowed the potential of the food at Café Joelle. Keeping this review at a three star because I do know people that love this place, so I give them the benefit of the doubt."

"I've visited this restaurant several times, and the food is consistently good, along with the friendly service. While there are certainly better dining options out there, there are also many worse ones. The prices are reasonable considering the location and the quality of the food. The bar has a nice atmosphere, although on nights with live music, the volume can get a bit too loud."

"I'm just excited about this amazing restaurant. Jerry. Paul, Denise and the rest of the staff were so accommodating. Another restaurant canceled my reservation when I headed a fundraiser for a local family. With two days I had to find another place. The Shrimp Francese was so delicious and of course the Tartufo. The staff was so friendly and everyone worked together so well. A really nice, warm, family atmosphere. Thank you."
