"Upon our arrival, our waitress promptly seated my boyfriend and me for our reservation and took our order, which included two ube coquitos, kamote fries, cheesy baked mussels, bone marrow salpicao, shortrib kare kare, and tofu kare kare. The ube coquitos were wonderfully sweet and creamy, though we were disappointed by the small amount served, much of which was ice. Still, we enjoyed them enough to order a few more. However, my enthusiasm diminished when the food arrived. While the cheesy baked mussels were tasty, the mussel meat was served lukewarm and a bit chewy. Unfortunately, the same issue plagued the shortrib kare kare—it was only lukewarm as well. This was puzzling, considering it was only us and one other table at around 6:20 PM, well before the 7 PM rush. There was no reason our food shouldn’t have been served hot. Despite the temperature, the flavors remained enjoyable. The highlights of the meal were undoubtedly the bone marrow salpicao and the kamote fries, both served hot. The bone marrow salpicao featured two bones filled with rich marrow and tender chunks of beef, which were sweet and savory with a nice kick from the Thai chilis. The kamote fries were deliciously crispy, sweet from the sweet potato, and balanced by the savory taste of the salted duck egg mayo, though we wished for a larger serving. The tofu kare kare was pretty average. In terms of service, our waitress was friendly and attentive, ensuring our water glasses were full and checking in on us throughout our meal. Overall, I would recommend Tsismis for drinks at the bar, enjoying the hip-hop vibes, but I’d suggest seeking out food elsewhere."

Great Filipino food! The portion sizes were a bit small, but the taste and aroma were spot on. The service was also excellent!

I've only tried the cheesy mussels!! But the space is super cute and I can't wait to actually stop in and dine when I get the chance. Everyone that works here is just super friendly and nice

I made a reservation through OpenTable, but when we arrived at the restaurant, we found that there was a private event taking place. It was quite frustrating to travel all the way there only to end up dining outside, especially since I had friends visiting the city. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. View menu

Was visiting Galerie Perrotin on Orchard Street, NYC and decided to try Tsismis, a Filipino restaurant only 5 minutes walking distance from the gallery. The head Chef of TsismisNYC recommended short ribs Kare Kare beef stew, complemented with thick savory peanut sauce, shrimp paste, eggplant and topped with Yu Choy vegetable. Thoroughly enjoyed the dish.Friendly staff and service was on point. Will definitely go back! ?

The food has failed any of my expectations. There was no sincere apology for the poor quality of the food made. One of the plate was stench, Over cooked and under seasoned. Another appetizer is over seasoned- so salty. The rest of the food is average. The flavoring palette were all wrong. This might be why, they will be only become a late night Japanese tapas bar only soon. Just the typical whitefolk LES alcoholic bar hop spot. Only the drink were good. Service was only alright.

This cozy restaurant is not the ideal choice if you're looking to experience authentic Filipino cuisine. It has a more upscale vibe and presents a modern, somewhat Americanized interpretation of Filipino dishes. For instance, their kare kare features beef short rib instead of the traditional oxtail. The lumpia resembled frozen vegetable spring rolls you could find in a supermarket rather than genuine lumpia. The menu is also limited, lacking staple dishes that are commonly available elsewhere. Favorites like arroz caldo, beef mechado, halo halo, and several others are notably absent. The one dish we found enjoyable was their crispy pata, which had perfectly crispy and succulent meat. Tsismis is the place to go! Small and cute spot on Orchard Street, TSISMIS has a lot to offer. We got a bunch of appetizers and meals. I recommend ordering a bunch of different items and sharing, because Filipino food is meant to be passed around. I enjoyed the Isaw, though I was reluctant since it wasn't chicken. But it was still delicious. The Baked Mussels were the winner. It was so flavorful. The Lumpia and Sweet Potato fries were okay. The Bangus Sisig didn't hit the spot as the others I've had, but still a great choice. The Beef Salpicao was the best thing on that menu. I never had Salpicao back home, but I would come back to Orchard Street for that. The Crispy Pata was so good too. Co...

I recently visited Tsismis with some friends for dinner, and I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. While this restaurant is a rebranding of Ugly Kitchen, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. We ordered lechon, bone marrow, and sisig. The lechon was crispy but had more fat than I prefer. The bone marrow was over-marinated and too salty, which forced me to eat a lot of rice to counter the saltiness. On a positive note, the sisig was made with fish instead of pork, and I highly recommend it. The fish was flaky and paired with a delicious white, savory, tangy mayonnaise-like sauce—definitely a highlight! The interior is charming, and the service was great. I do recall that Ugly Kitchen had a...

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
