"My cousin had been talking about Spinach Bread since we landed in Alaska, so when we made it to Talkeetna, it was the first place we stopped. I absolutely loved it! The service was fast, and they had a cute, comfortable seating area with picnic tables. I had a spinach bread and a Brazilian Limeade, which was super refreshing. Hoping I can go back someday!"

"This was our family’s second visit to DBP and it didn’t disappoint. We asked for an outside table due to the nice weather and ongoing pandemic. All staff are masked which was reassuring. Kyle was our server and got our drinks orders and answered questions about the menu he was an attentive server and very nice. As a side note, there are heaters on the deck, nearest the windows. Around the corner there is a fire pit, but at the time of our trip there, only drinks were being served in that area. I had the Pork belly BLT (delicious our daughter had the Pesto pasta which was really good. Mr. Isabill got the Twisted Creek Burger with a substitute side of mac and cheese, both of which he enjoyed. As we were leaving, we met the mayor he’s very charismatic and has purrrrrfect manners. I’d vote for him!"

"We went last night. As we were looking at the menu the staff let us know they were closing in 1 minute and if we were going to order we had to right then, so we quickly ordered. Didn 't sound like a problem, just a request for us to be quick. Paid for our burgers and suddenly staff at the grill got an attitude. I thought because it was closing time, and the guy that took our order was saying, What do you want to do? We can refund or... I apologized and said don 't worry about it, but apparently he wasn 't talking to us because I heard the other worker respond and say no way he wanted to make our order. At that point I was glad we weren 't having a disgruntled person make our food, so we took the refund. As the refund was being processed, all of the workers made it abundantly clear that they had actually already started making the burgers ?! as we were paying--they were literally on the grill! But they were mad that we hadn 't left a tip. We had paid with a card, and later my husband told me that after it processed the guy turned the screen around and immediately told the others there was no tip; I hadn 't caught that. The worst part was that we had fully intended to tip with cash, as we usually do, but once I realized what was going on the extreme entitlement was just wild to me that I certainly did not offer it up to get them to continue making the food. Tips are for good service, and I 'm happy to leave them for that. They aren 't bribes to get someone to do the job they 're already being paid to do. I don 't know who these guys are, if the one we spoke with owns it or not, but I see online it 's listed as Shirley 's Burger Barn. The main reason I 'm posting this is so that, if the owner wasn 't there tonight, hopefully they read this and know that their workers refused an order even though they had already used the food for it because of their own greed, costing the owner money for no reason. If the owner is the same Shirley from the ice cream shop, we met her earlier when we got ice cream, and she was so sweet and we paid with a card and left a cash tip there as well and had no issue ."

"Stopped by for lunch after doing a tour in Talkeetna. The large outside patio looked great to have an outdoor lunch and enjoy their popular drinks. The patio had about a 15 minute wait, but there was open seating indoors. I wanted to eat on the patio, so opted for the short wait. Our server was slow to come by to take the initial drink and appetizer orders. She also didn't come by often throughout the meal and admittedly forgot to put in one of the orders. She must've been having an off day as the rest of the servers looked to be very friendly and efficient. Ordered their blueberry mojito as it was recommended by several people when heard we were coming to Talkeetna. This was a great recommendation as it had a great blueberry taste that was balanced with the alcohol. Also, ordered two of their draft beers that were equally as good. For the food, ordered the nachos, brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, Caesar salad, and garden bowl salad. Food came out after about 15 minutes. I wasn't as impressed with the food, but I wasn't disappointed as it's a brewpub. The sandwiches tasted ok, but the plating was very bland and didn't look appealing. The salads and nachos tasted ok. The blueberry cheesecake tasted pretty good. Overall, I'd still recommend coming here for the drinks and ambiance. The food was just something to have with the drinks, so my expectations weren't too high. I didn't have the best service, but the rest of the waitstaff appeared to be doing a great job."

"Interesting place, one of the best breakfasts I ever had was there but that’s only if I can try to forget the times……the time I saw three dead mice in unattended traps less than 10 feet from our table….or the time that a mouse literally ran across the floor, into my girlfriends boot and back out and across the floor again, or maybe the time we saw two mice racing out of the kitchen after hearing a cook swear at them. Why would we go back you ask? Well, truth be told the other options in Talkeetna were so bad that this was the only choice. Too bad the majority of the businesses in town base their business on visitors who stay in town for less than 4 hours. They don’t care if you come back; in fact many of the locals wish you never showed up in the first place."

"The food was decent, but the staff was very unhygienic. The sandwich maker, who I believe was also the cashier, would touch his hat and clothes with his gloves, then continue handling the vegetables that went into the sandwiches without changing them. Even when he did change gloves, he did not wash his hands and would touch the gloves with his bare, unclean hands. This raised concerns about health codes and the risk of E.coli contamination. I tried to bring up these issues with the cashier, but he ignored me and disregarded the health codes. Be cautious when eating here, as there is a high risk of getting sick."

"We were seated just as another table of four was seated. Same waiter. We ordered soup to start as did the other table. It cam out barely warm. Seafood Chowder needs to be hot. The other tabe sent theirs back. We decided to tough it out and it got tougher as it cooled off more. My complaint is I told the waiter that ours was the same and he didn't offer to take our bowls as well. That was wrong. I think they just nuked the other tables bowls which is almost ok but they should have comped us our soup. The rest of the meal was hot and good. Not sure what the standard procedure is for this but he should have asked. I have to blame it on a new hire and was unsure what the protocol was."

"We had our meals here whenever it was open while we were in Talkeetna. We love the food especially the drunken noodles, be it just veg or with shrimp it was so good. The appetizers fried spring rolls and chicken dumplings were good. The shrimp fried rice was better compared to the chicken fried rice. The fried rices are tad bit dry but hey you are in Talkeetna and if you crave some Asian food Thai (my savior cuisine in any new place) this is your holy grail. Do check if they’re open before going there. Its an open seating with just 2 large table and a small table if I remember correctly. And layer up accordingly since it’s an open seating but I’d noticed the take outs for this place is insane. I’m sorry for not posting pictures we were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures both the times. "It’s a drive thru coffee hut, so atmosphere doesn’t really apply. Two-sided and tidy place! The barista made an excellent oatmilk latte and the bagel breakfast sandwich was hot, delicious, and frankly so satisfying, it served as both my breakfast and lunch. I appreciated that they accommodated my desire for egg cheese. (Who knows with the meats on it, it might have been a dinner too! The latte did seem to take a bit longer than elsewhere, so bring your patience. Good things do come to those who wait for it here. If you are in a rush, maybe keep to a simpler beverage- thus, really just a half star off on service for the longer wait."

"This is an interesting place on the Parks Highway. Lot of history and as many reviewers have said, it has seen better days. We walked in and got scolded by the old guy (probably the owner) for wearing a mask (COVID times and he was obviously an anti-masker). The view across the windows were overlooking a lake hence the name Lakeview, I suppose. Lot of old pictures and artifacts including an interesting old juke box. The bathrooms were clean. The place looked homely, there were 2 friendly dogs and 2 pups roaming around. The lady was helpful, the old guy was forgetful and came back to confirm the order as he probably forgot by the time he reached the kitchen (did not write anything down). He did try and joke about not liking credit cards but eventually accepted the new style of payment! The food was freshly made and appropriately priced. We ordered grilled cheese sandwhich and halibut strips and both were good. Will I come again? Perhaps yes as there are not many well marked spots to have lunch on the Parks Highway once you leave Wasilla and before Denali, unless of course one turns into Talkeetna."

"I visited Denali Brew Pub in Talkeetna, Alaska during a rainy day. We were quickly seated on the covered patio by a friendly young server who promptly informed us of the specials. I ordered the fish and chips while my partner chose the pulled pork sandwich with chicken curry lentil soup. My sister-in-law opted for the brisket sandwich with a hearty chicken noodle soup, and her husband ordered a burger with fries. The food was delicious, served quickly and hot. "This restaurant has lovely ambiance including a wall of windows which has an unobstructed view of Denali. There is a very nice large deck with tables so the patrons can dine inside or out. The menu is somewhat limited, but a nice selection is still available. The prices are steep based on “lower48” prices, but this is Alaska after all, overlooking Denali, so what does one expect? The food was good, served hot, and appeared freshly cooked. Service was professional and efficient. So, why the three stars instead of five? The Bistro tacked on a “Remote Fee” of 3.5%. As far as I can tell this is an undisclosed fee to which I strongly object. When I questioned the server, he sort of shrugged his shoulder and said “resort fee.” I got the party line of this is a great location in a remote area, so we can charge whatever we want. Sorry, but the menu selections are fully priced, and an additional undisclosed fee is unwarranted and unwelcome. I will not return to this restaurant."

"We ordered chicken curry, vegetable curry, biryani, and chow mein. The chicken curry was better than average, and was a lot like Golden Curry. The biryani was about average, as was the vegetable curry. I would not recommend the chow mein; it was rather bland.Three people seem to work here: the husband cooks, the wife waits, and another person might run deliveries. Expect staggered food if eating in and a less than aggressive service experience. If you want to get more to drink, you'll definitely have to wave the waitress over. She also can be very talkative and has quite a few insights into running an Alaskan restaurant if you're touristing like me.Prices are reasonable for the region. The store is closed midweek so that the restauranteurs can run down to Anchorage to stock up.The ambiance is also interesting. Music is nice, and some purple banners make the outside seating area rather pretty. Inside, plastic tables and child-contributed thank you pictures lend a somewhat charming fish fry feeling to the experience.Overall, a better-than-average and interesting experience."
