"Came here for initially just a weekend lunch and loved it so much that I came here to eat two days in a row! There are few other Korean restaurants in Burke (normally they 're in Annandale Centreville) so this is nice to see in the neighborhood. There is ample dine in space, as well as a few outdoor tables. A few of the indoor tables have built in BBQ grills and vent hoods. The Banchan side dishes (included) these are quite delicious here, the kimchi tastes strong *Godeunguh Soup: Grilled Mackerel. Fresh tasting, not smelly , and comes with choices of several soups included (we chose kimchi jigae). Excellent value for the price. *Kimchi Jigae: I have to say the soups here are quite powerful, strong flavored, and authentic tasting. They do not water the flavor down for non Korean customers so I appreciate. *Godeunguh Mujorim: Braised Mackerel with Radish. It 's definitely recommended for people who appreciate more authentic food and not for beginners. This is a simmered dish that isn 't overly brothy. I expected the sauce to be spicy but it 's not it 's just really savory and flavorful. You need to be okay with bone in fish because that 's how the mackerel is served traditional style, however the bones are generally easy to remove and the flavor is guaranteed delicious this way. Texture of the fish is perfect well cooked without completely falling apart. Delicious with the two small sides of white rice as part of the dish. *Tang Soo Yook: Deep fried pork with sweet sour sauce. The sauce is light fruity with either pear or apple pieces, and it 's served on the side of the pork so you can either dip the pork in the sauce or mix it yourself. Delicious but this dish in general is a tad basic for my liking no fault of the restaurant. Quite appropriate for beginners to order though. I will admit the food takes a while to come out and they deliver the banchan with the main entrees unlike many other local Korean restaurants which serve the banchan as appetizers ahead of the entrees. But the service is very friendly warm, and the food makes everything worth it. In terms of preserving authenticity I do think this place puts competitors in Annandale to shame. I 'll definitely be back to try out the BBQ and other dishes."

"I must preface that I am editing my post today March 30th, 2022, and reducing it from 4 stars to 1 star. I’m keeping the original post intact at the end, but anyone interested in dining here should read my food poisoning problem first. I went to Kyoto for lunch two weeks ago March 21st 2022 on a Monday and everything was per usual. However, that evening my stomach started making strange noises and cramping and I got really sick for about 24 hours, pretty much bed-ridden. At the time I couldn’t really blame Kyoto, because I wasn’t 100% sure. Fast forward a week later on March 28th 2022, and I’m back for dinner with my Partner. She and I get our usual. This is where I notice things have seemingly changed over the past couple months. The waiter brings out two bowls of squid salad, which comes with the Love Boat C that we ordered. We just figured he was hooking us up with an extra bowl, as it’s not a pricey item. When it comes to checkout I notice we are being billed for two squid salads. I point out to the waiter that it comes with the Love Boat C, and he proceeds to correct it by removing one bowl and charging us for the extra one we didn’t even order. I don’t argue and I pay it even though I don’t think I should have, and I tipped 20+ percent. Some things are just not worth arguing about, but I think it was bad service. I mean, you’re not losing much on a 5 dollar squid salad by comping your regular customer. Now on to the worst part of this experience… We leave Kyoto and go straight home. My Partner didn’t eat anything all day except Kyoto. As soon as she’s home, she started experiencing stomach cramps and growling, and the same symptoms I experienced the week prior. I also started feeling some minor illness again! She was then sick for about 24 hours, but mine wasn’t nearly as bad as it was the week prior and not as bad as hers this time. Food poisoning for me in two weeks and also my partner in the second week when we dined at same place is a pattern. It’s really a shame because that was our usual spot for sushi. I can no longer recommend this venue, and we have attempted to reach the local Health Department. Food poisoning is serious and can cause major problems. I hope they can bounce back, solve their problems, and make it relevant again but I cannot stomach the idea of returning any time soon. Original Post: The food quality is good. The sushi chefs are good. The ambiance is very casual and typically the service is good. We usually get the Boat C, which also comes with a salad of your choice (Seaweed or Squid) which we usually get the squid salad. It’s not a very nice looking establishment (borderline dive) and the wine selection could use some improvement, but the food makes up for it. I recommend it for family type outings but it’s not the place to impress company like business clients, nor first dates. We have also done carry-out there."

"For me, this place was always a favorite Korean restaurant. I recently came back after seeing them on TV and the generosity of the owner during the pandemic. This place is located on the strip of Waialae Ave, near Happy Days and Big City Diner. Parking is behind in the game and cost us just like $0.75 for less than two hours, I think. It can schedule during dinner time so accordingly. The last visits I tried to get the meat Jun, Chicken Katsu, Bi Bim Kook Soo, L.A. Kal Bee and Mandoo. Meat Jun is pretty good. Not too high dough- meat ratio. It is soft and fluffy. The chicken Katsu was crispy and lean! No fat parts! The Bi Bim Kook Soo was very tasty, spicy and wonderfully diverse. Don't substimate, as it has a good amount of wicy and has really delicious Kimchi pieces. (It is different from the side shell that they serve. L.A Kal Bee was good! Very tasty and great grill taste. Not too salty and has a smoky taste. Like a calbi there was a little fat and the texture was 't falling from the bone, but it was still delicate. Mandoo as an appetizer was so big and delicious! These mandoos were huge and they were filled with pork, biscuits, cabbage and other vegetables. Ho, my goodness, be careful that these as apps or pages, because you are simply filled up! Banchan is served with dishes. We have Kohl-Kimchi, potato salad, Daikon-Kimchi and seaweed soup before meal. They are more in the local way of Banchan, but I like them! Something salty, but this is Hawaii food for you. Prices are moderate. Maybe on the pricier side, but the portions are also big, so I would say prices are quite justified. Again, I was inspired by the generosity of the owner during the pandemic, and I also wanted to come back to a local, nostalgic (for me here in Hawaii business. The owner himself is a busy man and he can be a little rude, but it doesn't matter to me. He's what I'd say, a bada with a heart of gold. Nothing but respect. I come back and try a new menu item! As much as the owner does his part to support the community, I must do my part and support local businesses like its. If you want to eat some genuine Korean kine grindz and are in the Kaimuki region, try this place!"

"I don 't like writing this kind of review. My wife and I came to this restaurant after reading these reviews, after shopping in South Jersey. We shared a played of Fried Taro. That was tasty. I had the Massman Curry. It wasn 't the best, but not bad. Avocado was an odd addition to the standard recipie. My wife had Tom Yum with Tofu and Pad Thai Chicken. Just as we started to leave, my wife said she started feeling a weird headache in the center of her forehead, dizziness, inner ear pressure and flushed face. On the way home and for the rest of the night, she has been feeling odd pain in her head, face and neck. After some research, we are concluding this is from an allergy or other reaction to MSG. They do not state if they do or don 't use MSG. Another troubling thing. As I was paying the check, the waiter (owner? told us that we would get a free Thai Iced Tea for every five star review we leave. This is a sketchy way to gin up your review stars average! He said we can do it now. I said no, we will do it later, if at all. He said they do this because they are in a rural area. I don 't think cheating reviews is cool in any area, rural or otherwise. We eat in a lot of rural restaurants that don 't need to skew reviews. I suggest you stay away from this restaurant. We won 't go back.
