"My friend and I have been here for years. One of the first places in Tempe we went and it was a consistent night out location for us. I never had the need to leave such a review, we either spread good word of the mouth or simply took our friends and family. I can't count how many times we were here, but I can say we were never disappointed. As a place where you choose your food and cook it for you it is expected that it would be hard to be disappointed by your own decisions. This place has not only consistently cooked the food well, its service was always either exactly what you would expect from good service or far beyond. The main reason why I decided to write this review after all these years is the event of our last meal here. The man I suspected to be the manager was the treatment of at least half of the customers eating there at night. In addition, he seemed to be neigent bar and run the register. Once our food was finished, he brought it to us, don't wait. After asking about the appetizers, he went to check, and came to realize that he had not placed this order. He apologized and we knew he was very busy, so we didn't think about it. But without a word he brought us the appetizers, that was a very pleasant surprise. When the check came, he explained the situation in which they were connected to the staff. Without going into any small detail, I must say if you like such restaurants, this is exactly what you would expect in the way of food. But from all others, I recommend this purely because of the excellent service staff."

"I hadn 't had build your own Mongolian BBQ in years, so we decided on this place for lunch. They have SO many options, from their bases, proteins, produce, to their seasonings, sauces, sizes! I opted for the rice noodles for my base, while my husband picked udon noodles. He got the medium was able to pick two bases, though they forgot to add the rice he requested. Then they handed us our bowls off we went to start deciding which veggies sauces we wanted. I got the small size, which of course came with a significantly smaller bowl. It made it a little harder to put everything I wanted in, so I had to leave quite a few things off. We both picked tofu vegan chicken for our protein, then picked similar produce, including: bell peppers, jalapeños, cabbage, spinach, mushrooms, onion, water chestnuts, baby corn, snap peas, kimchi, roasted red peppers, green onions, cilantro! Then came the messy part: the sauces! They have a wide variety of sauces to choose from, you can add as many as you 'd like to the sauce cups that you bring to the grill with you. I went for the teriyaki, sesame, 3G sauce, Dragon Sauce, chili sauce. My husband picked similar sauces, added in the roasted garlic oil. Once our bowls were full, we went to the grill, handed the chef our tickets, along with our bowls sauces, took a seat back at our table. Our food was cooked quickly, a kind server brought everything back to us. Because the toppings bowls were a bit small, a lot of it had cooked down by the time we got it. I think their pre-made options are much bigger regardless of the size you order, so that was a little disappointing. But the food was delicious, nice hot, really hit the spot!"

"The service here is not it. I'm not blaming anyone in particular but the execution is just terrible. We got here as a party of four at 8 pm and was told there would be a wait of 20-30 minutes. We waited for around 30 minutes, seeing very clearly that only 20% of the booths were actually filled and wondering if they forgot about us. As we were about to leave our hostess tells us our table is ready and we decide to give them another chance. Mistakes were made.. first they sat us in a booth that was being held together by duct tape. Given only a small portion of the seats were filled, they could have sat us anywhere so we asked to be moved since most parties were placed pretty close to each other. When we ordered our food, which took another 10 minutes to obtain the actual bowl to fill it up with ingredients, we were asked to pick two bases; assortments of various noodles and rices. They told us they ran out of fried rice; I expected as much based off the way things were looking. After we filled our bowls and dropped them off, it took more than an hour for them to cook our food. Since it's a hibachi type place, you can see them cooking the food- I understand there are labor shortages but it looked painfully slow. As in, we sat down at 8:30 and by 9 pm our food still wasn't cooked yet. It's maybe 9:10 and our waitress comes to tell us our food is up next to cook. Hope! 5 minutes later she comes back to us regretfully informing us they ran out of ALL rice (white, brown, fried) and that the only bases were now udon and cabbage. At this point we're over it but we've waited too long so we're going to continue waiting. The place closes at 10. We get our food at 9:30, down it in 10 min, and go home. My food tasted good I suppose, but it seemed a tad burnt. The entire process was a mess and I wish they would just tell us what wait times for everything are upfront just to set expectations. I honestly feel bad for the staff having to relay this information, and the one cook that was cheffing all of it because it's not easy but god help this restaurant. Seriously."
