"Gypsea Gyleto was recommended as a place we try out while on the big island by our Air BNB host. We checked out reviews from Google and Yelp. It came across as a worthy place to try.I/we have tried Gelato from various places around globe. Unfortunately, this review receives a flat three based on the Gelato itself alone. We tried 7 different flavors. All, simply were not near the flavor or the creamy smooth texture in which Gelato is supposed to be. It had more of a freezer burnt ice cream cruncy texture. It just was not what I would expect Gelato to taste like. All flavors were under flavored as well.It saddens me to give such a low review as the majority of my reviews are four star or above. (the majority are five star with recommendations and compliments.)The rest of Gypesea Gelato was great. From the atmosphere, cleanliness and friendly employees. The presentation of the Gelato was great! However the texture and taste just was not right.It really is a nice place to visit. (the vibe etc.)I just cannot get over the fact that the Gelato as a whole simply wasn't made correctly. Hense the three star review. I'd give a 3.5 star, but Google won't allow it.My recommendation would be for the owners to visit Europe to see what it should be. The. other Gelato places outside of the islands to get a good idea of what should taste and feel like in your mouth.Good gelato is not cheap which is expected. However, in this case I would pay HALF the price purely based on the poor quality of the Gelato.I'd be happy to raise my review once the recipe is revised and every Gelato doesn't have that freezer burnt feel and some flavors even taste just cheap.Also get rid of the cheap black couches with card board signs on them with holes in them. (saying they are free for anyone who will take them). It's just tacky. They do not suit the epic, cool, clean, vibe atmosphere"

"There 's a half hidden gem in Kealakekua, wedged between a community college and a McDonalds on a non descript road is Korner Pocket Bar and Grill. This place is awesome. Part divey bar, part billiards room, part restaurant...for many years I passed by this place, never thinking it necessary to actually try it. Until a few people said... bro, you gotta try their burgers...best in town . So one day I tried one, and was blown away. So I went back another day and had another great burger. Went a third time...just as impressed. So it 's official, probably the best burger in Kona. And probably the best Reuben sandwich in Kona. And probably the best French Dip in Kona. And....you get the point. Don 't be fooled by the minimalist interior which is quite clean...the food is some of the best on island and very reasonable price-wise for Kona. And the service has always been pretty prompt, helpful and nice. This is truly a hidden gem. Give it a try. FYI, awesome happy hour prices on drinks and food every day from 3-6pm"

"I really love this restaurant, the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I have visited a few times and it seems like they frequently change items in their bakery section. It appears that it is someone's responsibility to make sure the labels for "GF" or "V" are accurate. However, the staff taking orders may not always be aware of which items are actually vegan or gluten-free, leading to confusion. For example, if you ask for a "vegan gluten-free brownie," they may just grab you a brownie without checking the label. I had a reaction after eating a brownie one week, but not another week with a different one, so I'm not sure if it contained gluten, eggs, or dairy. Overall, if you stick to items on the physical menu, you should be fine as they are clearly labeled."

"I love Rebel Kitchen! While they don't have many vegan options (only three that I know of), their veggie burger is the best I've ever had. It's topped with salad, tomato, and a unique sauce, but the patty is so delicious I could eat it on its own. It also comes with fantastic sides! My favorite part of Rebel Kitchen is that they make their own ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce. The mustard has a flavor reminiscent of honey mustard, but it's completely vegan! If you're tired of other restaurants in Kona, Rebel Kitchen is definitely the place to go."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our teishoku (dinner meals C and B). The quality of the tuna sashimi was outstanding. However, the sukiyaki didn't quite meet our expectations—it was decent, but felt more like a side dish than a true sukiyaki. The sunomono and tsukemono were basic, and the miso soup was also standard. On a positive note, the tempura was perfectly fried and well-seasoned. The service was efficient and very welcoming. We loved the atmosphere and interior design of this vintage Japanese shokudo; it felt genuinely authentic. The prices are slightly on the higher side, considering these limitations (it would rate 5 stars if prices were reduced by 10-20% or if the quality improved a bit). That said, we had a fantastic meal and enjoyed plenty of vegetables. No reservations are needed, and there's free parking in front of the restaurant."
