Really good BBQ. First time we visited and it was really good. Large portions for what you pay. Try the brisket tacos, they were large and really good. We will go back, it was good. My husband and I visit this restaurant whenever we're in town. He makes excellent barbecue himself, so I typically don't order it at BBQ places, except for the smoked turkey. They definitely have the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had, made from scratch. I really enjoy the fried mushrooms and fresh rolls, as well as their tasty salads and smoked wings. While I can't comment much on the smoked dishes since I'm a bit of a BBQ snob, I appreciate the variety they offer. It's a fantastic mom-and-pop restaurant. Food: 5 stars.

From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic. A very friendly gentleman (I didn’t catch his name) greeted us and got us seated, and our server Melissa was absolutely lovely. I ordered the ribs, and they were delicious. We came down for a mini getaway from Michigan and chose this place based on the positive reviews, and they definitely didn’t disappoint. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend stopping by to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. I will definitely recommend Doc's BBQ Smoke Shack. Keep up the great work!

I honestly had a bit of a struggle settling on a rating for this place. Among all the BBQ restaurants I've visited, I’d give this one a solid 3 stars across the board. However, considering it's in the Fort Knox area of Kentucky, my experience was quite satisfactory. It wasn't anything extraordinary, but definitely reliable. The nachos left something to be desired, but the fried pickles and jalapeño peppers were really tasty. For dinner, I opted for the brisket plate, which was quite good. I visited the BBQ shack with high expectations, but it fell a bit short. The pork was lukewarm, which was concerning, but I still decided to eat it. I could tell that if I had sent it back, it would have just been microwaved to make it hot again in no time. On a positive note, the macaroni salad was quite good, with plenty of celery, but the fries were hit or miss. I'm puzzled as to why this place only received three stars. After having a series of disappointing BBQ experiences, I was hesitant to try a restaurant that wasn't highly rated. With all due respect to those who rated it poorly, I believe they are mistaken. My colleague and I started with the smoked wings, which were excellent—especially when paired with the hot BBQ sauce. My colleague ordered the brisket, while I went for the ribs, and both were fantastic. The ribs were meaty and effortlessly fell off the bone, pairing well with any of the sauces. I wasn't sure what to expect from this restaurant since I had never dined in Brandenburg before, but a nurse I know highly recommended it. The gentleman, referred to as "Pops," was incredibly kind and accommodating. I had a large order to place, and he kindly allowed us to call in separately to order.
