"I 'm a huge fan of Asian cuisine. My brother and I were beyond excited to check this place out after he just moved to Milwaukee. But truthfully, based on our experience, it 's just average. I 'll get to the food in a second, but I really want to sress that the restaurant itself feels very cold and phony. It has that uncomfortable hipster vibe where no one who works there is really happy to see you. No warm greetings, no friendly smiles, no conversation or actual service. Glorified McDonald 's employees who take your order and hand you your food. The place has no personality or love. It 's just cold and straight to the point. What do you want? Here you go. Here 's your check. For the prices they charge, you 'd hope they would want to provide a good experience, but they 're just straight to business. Young staff who just want fast, easy tips. They also don 't have physical menus, which is insane. You have to scan a QR code on your phone to pull it up on their website. Ridiculous. There 's no benefit to this other than saving them money on printing costs. It 's a poor experience that takes away from the excitement of browsing and ordering. It feels super impersonable and low effort, just like the service. The sushi was good, but not great. Sweet potato roll was the best we tried, 7.5/10. Philly roll, 6/10. Oshinko was a 5/10. The flavor was just too mild. The potato eggroll didn 't taste like much other than fried glass noodles, 4/10. The crab rangoon was okay, very heavy and forward on cream cheese without much substance, 6/10. I couldn 't imagine paying $7.50 for 2 small eggrolls or 6 mini Rangoon. Just ludicrous prices for the portion size, especially when the ingredients are so cheap. The miso soup was standard fare. Tom Yum soup was stinky, but it had a nice flavor, 8/10. Not the best I 've had, but it was good. Pad See Ew and Pad Thai had decent flavor, but the beef was real tough. Portions were also on the smaller side for $14. I get that it 's a lunch special, but it didn 't feel very special to me. 6.5/10 for both. The fact this place has 10/10 ratings is baffling. I wrote this so that other people wouldn 't be deceived like we were. Definitely won 't be going back, as much as we wish we could say we wanted to. Just a heartless experience with okay food at high prices. Not sure what other Asian offerings there are in Milwaukee yet, but we 'll definitely be looking elsewhere for our regular spot."

Went in on a Saturday night at 5:00 with a party of 8 and had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated (they do not take reservations . The wait, however, was worth it. This small restaurant left a big impact with its cozy space, quick service, and delicious food! For starters, we ordered the pork buns and gyoza. The buns were fluffy and soft, and the pork belly was tender and juicy. The gyoza was modestly sized with a nice crispy bottom and tender veggies inside. The ramen bowls were generously portioned, served with classic ramen noodles (Udon is not an option . The assortment of sushi and sashimi we ordered was fresh, tender, and delectable. All well presented. Everything we had here was abs... View menu

We were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary edamame appetizer right away, which was great! I really enjoyed their soy sauce, or maybe it was mirin? It had a slightly sweet flavor that paired nicely with the edamame. The hostess greeted us with a big smile and was very friendly and accommodating. The service throughout our meal was good and timely; they checked on us without being overbearing, striking the perfect balance. In Bay View, we don't have many fantastic Asian eateries, so now that I'm aware of their special vegan menu, I look forward to returning and trying more dishes. I would rate them 4 stars if the red curry had been exceptional, and I wish I could give them 3.5 st...

Yum! Yum! Yum! My husband and I received a gift card and we were excited to try it out! I’m not sure if they do take advanced reservations, I had looked online but didn’t see anything. We went on a Friday evening so it was a little busy, we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The restaurant was plenty busy with all tables filled and plenty of to go orders going out.We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered a bottle of the plum wine, miso soup, bao buns, and some sushi rolls! The wine was sweet and delicious, a nice pairing to all of the food. The miso soup was also good, definitely lots of flavor compared to others I’ve tried, I only wish the tofu pieces were a bit bigger, p...

"My husband and I have made it a tradition to try different steak houses in the Milwaukee area for our anniversary. This year we decided on Rare. We loved the ambiance and our waitress was great. We had no idea when the reservation was made that Fridays they offer half off bottles of select wine and we definitely took advantage of that! The Burgess Cellars Cabernet was delicious! For our meals we decided to start out with salads. My husband is a very adventurous eater and eats everything except for onions. He despises onions. He ordered the chopped salad without onions. Upon arrival we could smell them. A few bites in and onions. We sent the salad back and a new one is brought out and guess what. More onions. The waitress said she was a bit surprised since she said she watched them remake it and we were a bit disappointed. For our meals, my husband and I each ordered the dry aged bone in rib eye and brussel sprouts with goat cheese and mushrooms in truffle oil for our sides. The sides were phenomenal. I would go back just for the sides. The steaks on the other hand were not as great as we were hoping they’d be. The char on the steaks overpowered any of the dry aged flavoring we were expecting to taste and the steaks themselves were very difficult to cut. We have never had this issue before at any of the other high end restaurants we’ve been to. This was also disappointing. All in all we rate this restaurant a The service was great (thanks Quinn), the wine delicious and the sides phenomenal. Quinn also gave us a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary, that was a lovely gesture. We’re glad we tried Rare but will definitely not be returning… well, maybe for those sides!"
